Kissing Vanessa was like drinking straight from the source of life itself.

We should do this more often.Mitch thought that every time she met her partner halfway. When Vanessa gradually rolled onto her back and brought Mitch on top of her, that was their easy way of acknowledging that what happened in bed stayed there.

Vanessa was always the dominant one. That was still true when Mitch got on top, undressed the woman she loved, and put her all into pleasuring the person who didn’t often ask for reciprocation.

Being invited into Vanessa’s body was the greatest gift Mitch ever asked for, and it was a gift always on her doorstep. She never had to ask.

She just took.

Chapter 13

Knowingthatatleasttwo other people were watching out for her made Mitch more comfortable going forward in Club Night, especially now that she had faces to put to names. Stella gave Mitch her number in case something came up outside of the club, but Agent James was still the main point of contact during the investigation.

Mitch had some ideas of her own.

“Does your Mistress know you keep dropping in on me like this?” Candace removed her reading glasses when Mitch was brought to her at brunch. Mitch didn’t wait for an invitation. She pulled out a chair and waited for her iced coffee, as she now expected every time she came here to speak with the queen of all madams. “No, never mind. You’re either sniffing for a new Mistress or here because of your kink. Which is it?”

Mitch was a paragon of perfect posture in her pantsuit and heels. Her natural hair was slicked back away from her face, bringing more prominent attention to the eyeliner she donned before leaving the house. No, Vanessa didn’t know she was here, and that was how it had to be for now. “I’d like to discuss something with you,” Mitch said with a subservient voice that matched a woman named Michelle. “If it pleases you, of course.”

As usual, Candace looked at her as if she didn’t know what to make of Mitch outside of the club. Butch submissives were already unicorns in the circuit, but most saw Mitch as her femme persona. She has no idea what I’m really like, of course. That was how it had to stay. Otherwise, Mitch’s confidence might slip in front of the woman who had the power to completely destroy her.

She didn’t take Candace lightly, after all.

“Suppose I don’t have a choice.” Candace folded her glasses and put them down. “A woman like you hunts me down and I have to listen. So, what is it? Do you want more money?”

“Close. I want more notoriety.”

Candace’s eyebrows ascended her forehead. “How so? You’re already the most sought-after submissive wench this side of the international dateline. What more notoriety could a winner of the Summit possibly want? Her name in lights, strung up on a marquee inviting every Tom, Dick, and Larry to come sample her wares?”

Mitch ignored the implications of that. “You know how to talk to me, Ms. Lister.”

“Of course I do. Your type is far from mysterious. Serve you on a platter and you lap it up like the happy bitch you are.”

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’d wanted me for yourself, Ms. Lister.”

“Please.Even if I wanted to court disaster with your Mistress, I know better than to think you’d ever truly be mine. You belong to the world, my dear, and it’s clear what you mean by needing more notoriety.”

Mitch was patient while Candace piled her empty plates for the waitress. It wasn’t Thalia, which Mitch duly noted. If she saw this young lady with hazel eyes and a prominent nose around the club, it would be reported to the FBI.

“It’s true people come to see you perform, sometimes alone, sometimes with your Mistress. Do you know which draws the most attention?”

“Solo performances, of course. People love to think they have access to my body.”

“So, you’re aware? Good. This makes my proposition easier.”

“You already have one lined up?”

“Be patient, my dear. Desperation doesn’t do anything for me.”

That explains why you’re not making Thalia’s dreams come true.“I think you’ll find me effortlessly patient.”

Candace clicked her tongue. “There’s an offshore event coming up, hosted by an old confidant of mine. One of my best clients, actually.” The woman with a hundred hearts beneath her fingertips picked up her cloth napkin and dabbed her perfect lips. “I don’t like going alone. Come with me, as my plus one. I’ll get you more attention, and you’ll grant me more money when people inevitably ask how I poached you from Vanessa Richards.”

“I know what event you’re talking about.” Mitch and Vanessa were invited to almost everything, both above board and below. Vanessa didn’t always tell Mitch the details, especially if she had decided a certain event was not “their vibe,” but Mitch still heard about them. She belonged to more than one guild, after all. Vanessa ensured it once their relationship was solidified and public. “The annual King’s Crown invite-only party. Off the shore of Mexico, yes?” She referred to the mega yacht owned by a British billionaire she had only personally met once, when he congratulated her on winning the Summit before commenting on her ass. That was when Vanessa decided they would not be attending any of his events for the foreseeable future. Not when he said that when he thought his girlfriend wasn’t listening.

“The very one,” Candace confirmed. “I abhor the event myself. Too many drunks grabbing ass and pretending to be more important than they are. Yet there is a lot of money to be made there. Especially if you are… in a certain field of work. As you are.”

“You think if I go with you, you’ll find more clients for your club?”
