“You’d better start talking, bitch,” Rafe said.
“You can hit me a thousand times, but it won’t change the fact that I don’t know anything!”
“A thousand, huh?” Palm Slapper said. “Let’s see, shall we?”
He slapped me across my other cheekbone, which exploded in a stinging pain, radiating down my sore body.
It was like my body was finally waking up from a fog, now aware of the aches and pains from having been in a car accident.
“One.” He smirked.
Slap. This one hit me so hard, that my neck jerked to the side.
“Two.”
“You motherfucker!”
Slap. This one split my lip open, the pain stinging as a drop of blood trailed down my chin.
“Three.”
“Screw you,” I said.
“You’d be wise to show some respect,” Franco chimed in.
“I don’t have any evidence against them. Trust me, if I did?” I leaned forward. “I would’ve handed it over to the district attorney and gotten a bowl of popcorn to watch your ass get arrested.”
“The ADA,” Franco said in a taunting tone. “Now we’re getting somewhere. You’ve been fucking him, yeah?”
My stomach plunged.
“What information did you share with him?”
I wanted to slap that smirk right off of Franco’s face.
“Leave Hunter out of this. He has nothing to do with any of this.”
“I’ll be the judge of that. Besides, that piece of shit deserves what’s coming to him. Hunter Lockwood put some of my colleagues behind bars. It’ll serve as a warning to everyone else what happens when you put people like us in some jail cell like we’re animals.”
You are animals.
I might not be able to save myself from his horrors, but I needed to protect Hunter from suffering this same fate.
“Leave him alone. I’ll do anything you want if you just leave him alone.”
Franco squatted before me, his thin, nasty mouth grinning, as he slid his fingers up my leg, coming dangerously close to the space between my thighs.
“Anything?”
I swallowed the bile that launched into my esophagus as he squeezed my thigh.
“Don’t worry, princess. I’ll be taking a piece of that, too,” he said.
The other men shifted their stance, two of them rubbing their crotches, and with a dread sinking into my bones, I suspected they’d all take what they wanted from me.
