Bullseye appeared off to the side, shaking his head before he dropped back into the shadows again.

“Enough of this!” I roared. “Come out and let’s end this.”

A gunshot rang in the distance.

“Sounds like my friend is having fun.”

“He’s going to die, just like you.”

“Not before he kills Sandman,” Chaos said, stepping out of the shadows, and pointing a gun at me. The sight of him shocked me. Once, young and strong, he looked wasted and on death’s door. I could see the dark rings around his hollow eyes as his hand shook. This was no longer the brother I remembered. Now all that stood before me was some junkie who walked down a path he could never come back from.

Slowly walking towards me, his gun aimed right at my face, I waited, watching him intently. If this piece of shit thought he was walking out of here, he had another thing coming.

The back door opened as hurried footsteps raced towards us.

“DAD! Chaos is here!” my daughter yelled, entering the common room, just as Chaos smirked before turning his gun to Emma. Like lightning, I didn’t think, rushing forward, raising my blade, as it swished through the air.

“Drop!” I roared as my daughter screamed bloody murder.

The gun went off.

And my blade connected.

The second my blade swept through flesh and bone, I dropped my blades to the floor, gathering my daughter in my arms as her screams echoed all around me.

Bullseye, Phantom, and Smoke came running in, ready for war as I sat there on the floor, rocking my daughter in my arms, trying to quell her trembling body. Her hands clutched my shirt tightly as she sobbed into my chest.

“It’s okay,” I whispered. “I’ve got you. You’re safe.”

“Son of a bitch,” Smoke cursed, looking at the body without a head on the newly laid floor. “I just laid this damn floor.”

Ignoring the brother, I looked at Bullseye.

“He said Scab is here. Find him and kill him.”

Bullseye nodded and quickly left.

Kneeling next to me, Phantom ran her hand over Emma’s hair. “What happened?”

“It was just me and Chaos when she came running in the back door to warn me. Chaos turned and was going to shoot her. I didn’t think. I just killed him. Emma saw.”

“Shit,” Phantom whispered, looking away.

“Lena, it is crucial that everyone stays inside their homes until we have dealt with Scab. I can’t leave Emma. Not now.”

“I’ll take care of it,” the only club sister muttered, getting to her feet. “Smoke, help me clean this mess up. Reaper, get Emma to Sunny. She will help. Maybe seeing her brother will help calm her down.”

Gathering my daughter in my arms, I carried her out of the clubhouse as she clung to me.

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Sandman

Chasing the fucker through the trees, I never stopped.

The surge of adrenaline in my veins propelled me forward, pushing me to keep going. There was no way I was going to quit until I held that fucker’s heart tightly in my hands.

Another shot rang out.
