Taking cover behind a tree, I carefully evaluated my current location and realized I had strayed quite a distance from the clubhouse. I didn’t know where he was leading me, but the air seemed to grow heavier with each passing moment, hinting at the weight of what awaited me. That gave him the advantage. Where this place was, I didn’t care. It was going to be where I killed him.

When I heard him move again, I hastily took off after him, doing my best to catch up. The motherfucker was fast, I’d give him that. But he was sloppy. The direction in which he was heading became clear to me once I heard his footfalls.

He was herding me back towards the clubhouse.

I heard a scream in the distance.

Part of me wanted to return and help, but I couldn’t. Nothing mattered at the moment but the bastard in front of me.

Making my way, I watched as he ducked into one of the tunnels that ran under the club. If he thought he was going to escape that way, he was sorely mistaken. I knew those tunnels like the back of my hand. Scouted them myself when I first came to live here. I spent many hours in the tunnels, learned everything I could about them. But most importantly, I possessed the knowledge of the exact number of steps required in each tunnel to ensure a safe passage and there was no way he was escaping.

The fucker just stepped into my playground.

Entering the tunnel, I smiled as the darkness I was so comfortable with surrounded me, welcoming me home. Walking deeper into the void, I closed my eyes and let the quietness wash over me as I listened for anything out of place. The silence spoke volumes as I made my way deeper into the darkness.

I could hear him breathing.

His heart was racing as he tried to find his way out.

Glass shattered on the ground.

He stumbled, grunting.

He was panicking.

Bracing myself, I knew he would come back the way he came.

Not everyone belonged in the blackness of the void.

Not everyone could stand the silence of the dark.

He was moving my way.

Standing my ground, I slowed my heart and took a deep breath.

He was not leaving this tunnel alive.

Just as I let out a breath, he barreled into me like a freight train, tackling me to the ground. Hitting, and punching his way free, I rolled to my side, quickly getting to my feet. “I’m going to kill you.”

Scab grinned, producing a knife.

“You can try,” he sneered, taking a swipe as the blade sliced into my arm. Ignoring the sting, I swung my fist, connecting with his face as he took a few steps back. There wasn’t a lot of room to move around in the tunnel, so I wasn’t shocked when he jabbed the knife and it hit its mark in my thigh.

Grunting through the pain, he kept advancing until we both emerged from the tunnel. With more room to play, I wasted no time taking the fucker to the ground.

Reaching behind me, I wrapped my hand around the hilt of my knife and sliced it down the other side of his face as he roared out.

“Now you will have matching scars,” I said, just as his knife rammed into my side. Rolling off him, I got to my knees, coughing up blood as he grabbed my hair, yanking my head back, his knife at my throat.

“You should have killed me in the tunnel,” he growled, just as his knife sliced into my skin.

“Get the fuck away from my son!” Hawk roared as a gunshot rang out and Scab stumbled back before falling to the ground. Turning, I saw Hawk walk out of the tree line, along with Indigo and Ravage.

Spitting blood, I slowly got to my feet as Hawk rushed over to me.

“Jesus, fuck, son,” my dad growled. “He fucking made a mess of you.”

“I’m fine.” I coughed again as another shot rang out.
