She took a deep breath and continued. “Look guys, I know we are missing two important family members, but we have to give them time. After everything they’ve both been through, it’s not going to be easy for them. Remi doesn’t know who to trust, and Reaper has gone dark. Montana has assured me he and Fedorov will do everything they can to help fix what they broke.”

“Fuckers did enough. They destroyed them,” Digger muttered.

“Dig’s right,” Ink added. “Got mad respect for both men, but they fucked with something they had no right touching. Reaper and Remi belong to us. They are Golden to the core.”

Massacre leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table. “And what about me? I played a part in their destruction too, Ink. I’m just as guilty. So is Sandman.”

He was right.

I hurt Remi.

I knew what I was doing was wrong.

I could have said no, but I didn’t.

“No, the both of you were just following orders. Those two fucks knew their actions would have serious repercussions. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust those two fucks with a potato gun, let alone Reaper and Remi,” Ravage stated lowly as a few of the brothers nodded in agreement.

“What are you saying, Ravage?” Bullseye asked, halting all the murmurs around the table.

“I’m saying we cut ties,” our brother said clearly. “The Soulless Sinners are not like us. We may fuck up shit and go about things the wrong way, but at least this club owns it. Those bastards used our Prez and his ol’ lady and hung their asses out to dry. The only reason those two fucks did that was for their own gain. Got love for you, Bullseye, but your uncle is a fucking dick. But what does he care? He got what he wanted. He’s the head of the fucking Bratva now and Montana is sitting pretty on his soulless throne.”

“Ravage is right,” I whispered.

Everyone in the room looked at me.

Stepping out of the shadows, I said, “I hurt Remi. Reaper asked me to protect her, and I didn’t. That’s on me. Remi came to see Sunny in the hospital. She is angry and hurt. She doesn’t trust me anymore. I did that. She never will if we still work with them.”

“Sandman is right,” Player added. “Because of those two fuckers, I thought my brother was dead. They could have told me the truth, but they didn’t. Even my own family kept shit from me. Reaper said after we took down the Society that this club would have no more secrets. The Soulless Sinners and Maxim Fedorov thrive on secrets. Their lives depend on them. Ours doesn’t have to. I vote to end the alliance with the Soulless Sinners and Fedorov.”

Bullseye sighed. “That is an alliance that Reaper instituted. I’m just the acting president. As much as I agree with you guys, we can’t do anything until Reaper comes home. I’m only temporarily filling this position.”

“What if he doesn’t come back?” Ink asked.

Savage leaned forward in his chair and spoke. “According to our charter, Reaper has one year to return to the fold. If Reaper fails to return, the club will vote for a new president. It must be a unanimous vote. The acting president oversees all current projects, deals, and alliances, but he can’t make any changes during that one year.”

“So, we are in limbo until Reaper returns?” Player asked.

Savage nodded. “The charter is very clear. While we made a few changes to it after theSociety, Reaper insisted that most of the bylaws stay as is. He didn’t want to fuck with the core of the club.”

“He will return,” I muttered.

“You don’t know that, Sandman,” Ink asked.

“Yes, I do. He’s like me. He can’t live without her. If there is a way, he will find it and fix it. Just like I would. He won’t ever give up.”

“Sandman is right,” Slaughter nodded, backing me up. “The way I see it, Reaper only has two choices. He either makes things right with his wife, or he puts a bullet in his head. There is no middle ground where those two are concerned. Reaper can’t live without her. I know it sounds trite, but it’s the truth. Remi is his soul, and we all know what Reaper is like without a soul. He won’t live a half-life.”

“Well, like I said. Prez has one year. In the meantime, all we can do is carry on and do what we do best,” Savage sighed.

“And with that,” Phantom opened her laptop and began. “As we all know, Sunny’s accident wasn’t an accident. Chief Wilcox allowed Matrix and me to view the scene. We gathered what data we could and took our own pictures which we’re still going through, but the preliminary report is that Sunny was run off the road, deliberately. Matrix was able to tap into the college security cams and trace Sunny’s movements from the school to the parking lot. After that, it’s all speculation. However, Sunny wasn’t alone when she left the science lab. Two men were waiting for her, and both followed her when she left campus.”

“Do we have ID on these dead men walking?” Digger asked.

“No,” Phantom said, shaking her head as she produced two grainy photos. Stepping out of the shadows, Slaughter slid both photos my way. Nodding my thanks, I picked them up to see for myself. The first photo was so dark and grainy that all I could see was the outline of a man. In the second photo, however, I smirked and whispered,

“Indigo.”

“What?” Phantom asked, sitting up, as my brothers all looked at me for clarification. Sliding the photo back towards her, I clearly said, “That is Indigo. A bounty hunter for Disturbed MC. Indigo is like me, but he doesn’t hurt women and children.”
