Entering church, I headed straight for my favorite spot.

Standing in the corner of the room, I took a deep breath as the shadows surrounded me. It was a familiar feeling as the darkness wrapped me up in a blanket. Almost like the weighted blanket Sunny bought me for when I got overwhelmed.

Different, but the same.

I didn’t know what Bullseye wanted. It wasn’t very often that they asked specifically for me to join a club meeting. Generally, I did what I wanted and everyone left me alone until they needed me for something.

As brothers filed in and took their seats, I watched as Savage, Slaughter, and Bullseye talked quietly amongst themselves. Whatever Bullseye was saying seemed to be angering Slaughter, while Savage just shook his head.

Everyone was here for this meeting.

Even Ravage, who never left Karlyn’s side.

After Satan’s Angels tried to attack the club and Ravage killed a man for entering Karlyn’s room, his vigilance of Ink’s sister became paramount. He insisted that a brother stand guard and protect her at all times.

Ink agreed.

There were two new faces in church today.

Well, not so much new, but they were to me. I remembered them from before, when the club was still in California, but after the wedding, everything changed.

I hated change.

Why couldn’t things just stay the same?

“Okay everyone, shut up,” Savage ordered as he took his seat. Acting as the temporary VP, Savage took his responsibilities seriously. He was Jess’ husband and cared for her deeply as I cared for my Sunshine. He didn’t talk to me much. Which was okay with me.

Bullseye slammed the golden gavel down on the table.

The meeting had begun.

Savage began, “Okay, assholes, we have a lot to discuss today, so shut up and pay attention. First off, this weekend’s barbeque to welcome back Massacre and Player into the fold is a go. Stella and the ladies have everything under control, but they need some volunteers to help set up the tables and shit.”

“A party for me?” Massacre grinned. “Aww, I didn’t know you guys cared.”

Several of the brothers groaned while a few flipped him the one- finger bird.

“You are lucky to be breathing, dickhead,” Player growled. “You ever pull that shit again and I will put a bullet in you myself.”

“Love you too, Reggie.”

“Shut up, Dwayne.”

“Anyway,” Savage sneered at the two brothers as Bullseye covered his mouth to hide his smile. “There will be no cut sluts, whores, hangers-on, or bunnies at the barbeque. It’s a family function and the kids will be around, so I don’t want to see any bitch that doesn’t belong. Anyone bringing a date needs to let Stella know. The bitch passes Stella’s inspection she’s good to go. Also, we will have guests that day. The Sons of Hell will be joining the celebration, so don’t piss off King. They are allies and we need to keep them that way. Second, we got word that Reaper is back in New York City. Montana called and said, for now, he will take point on our Prez.”

“Any word on when he’s coming back?” Ink asked.

Savage shook his head. “No. After everything that’s happened, Montana has asked that we give Reaper space. He’s dealing with a lot of shit right now, so until our Prez has his head on straight, we are going to carry on, so he doesn’t have to worry. Agreed?”

Everyone nodded.

“And Remi?” Slaughter asked.

Phantom looked up from her computer and sighed. “She’s still reeling from what she learned.”

As the only club sister, Phantom was an important part of the club. She was also the wife of Bullseye. Phantom was in some ways like me. We had our own demons and lived in the darkness, only coming out of the shadows when needed.

I liked Phantom.
