“I’m not killing a kid!” James roared. “Hellhound, what do you think?”

“He’s quiet, which means we wouldn’t have to worry about him singing like a canary. He took out seven grown-ass men with little trouble. But he is young. He has been in the club since birth, so that’s something. He would be the first kid patched, Prez.”

“There’s a first time for everything,” James said, facing me again. “Okay, kid. You’re a patched brother.”

“Wait a fucking minute. You can’t do that. There wasn’t a vote!”

“I can do whatever the fuck I want. I’m the motherfucking President of the Club.”

I was finally free.

Chapter One

Jessica

Present day...

There were times I hated my job.

Tonight was one of those times.

I’d seen a lot in my time as an Emergency Room nurse, from the utterly heartbreaking to the happiest of times, but when it came to knowing an individual, the urgency to fix or make better what ailed them rode me hard. The problem with tonight, there was nothing I could do to fix what was now broken.

All I could do was manage the fallout that was sure to come.

The first to arrive was my husband, Savage, as he ran into the emergency room searching for me. Seeing him, I rushed over and hugged him tightly. I needed him, his strength, tonight because when I told Solomon what happened, all hell was going to break loose.

Solomon, or Sandman, as the club brothers called him, stood out and left an indelible mark on my heart. Not because he was a killer, but because of his compassion. Solomon possessed an innate ability to spread love and kindness, which he generously shared with everyone he cared about, creating a joyful and supportive community.

With the kids, he became a kid himself.

With the women, he was our big brother, someone we could always talk to, knowing he would be there. He never judged or condemned. He was a remarkable listener and always eager to help when needed.

There wasn’t a woman or child in the club who didn’t love Solomon. The brothers respected him and learned from him. They stood beside him when he thought something was wrong and worked beside him when he needed help.

The man was a true Golden Brother.

But with Sunny... the man was just more.

His adoration, love, and respect towards her were so captivating. It felt almost like a magical, otherworldly experience. The man known in the club as a killer was the sweetest, gentlest man when with Sunny. Thanks to Sunny, we witnessed the best qualities of him that were brought to the forefront.

“How bad is it?”

“Really fucking bad. Where is Solomon?”

“Chief told me he and Jules got an emergency call. Some old lady fell.”

“Shit,” I cursed, looking around the quiet emergency room. “That means they will bring her here. How long ago did they get the call?”

Chief Wilcox ran in with Ink, Slaughter, Digger, and Bayou.

All the brothers were wearing their emergency responder uniforms.

“We heard,” Slaughter said, trying to catch his breath.

“How bad is it?” Ink asked.

“Bad.”
