“Where is Bullseye?” Bayou asked, reaching for his phone.

“Already called the clubhouse. They should be here soon. I just hope they get here before Solomon does, because it’s going to take the whole fucking club to lock him down,” I flatly advised.

I knew Solomon. I had a deeper understanding of him than most people did. He may just be another brother in the Golden Skulls, but to me, hewasmy brother. My real brother. Not by blood, but by choice. The boy who held my hand as we grew up. Who protected me as best he could. The brother who always had my back and was there for me when I needed him.

“Shit,” Slaughter said, raking his hands through his hair. “What fucking happened?”

“She flipped her car several times before coming to a stop in a culvert. The force of the crash ejected her from the vehicle.”

“Jesus, fuck,” Digger cursed, his face paling with the news.

Yeah, it was bad.

“Chief, contact Jules and find out their ETA. We need to make sure the brothers are here before he arrives,” Savage muttered.

Chief Wilcox nodded and reached for the walkie-talkie.

The sound of pipes and police vehicles pulling into the parking lot had us all looking around as moments later, brothers, ol’ ladies, and the local police department rushed in, Bullseye in the lead with Phantom next to him.

Seeing me, Phantom ran towards me. “Is she okay? How badly is she hurt?”

“Darlin’, let Jess talk,” Bullseye soothed. “Just give it to us straight.”

With everyone standing in the emergency room, I told them what I knew. “It’s bad. Bones, Stitch, and Dr. Claudia from Rosewood Memorial are with her now, prepping her for emergency surgery. It was a violent accident, guys. Brace yourselves because this is going to be a long night.”

“Where’s Sandman?” Police Chief Phillips asked nervously, looking around the emergency room for the one man we were all worried about.

“On a call,” The Fire Chief informed. “Ambo is five minutes out.”

“Fuck,” Bullseye cursed. “Get the women behind the counter. Brothers, spread out and get ready for the fucking fight of your life. He won’t go down easily. Jess, let the docs know they are about to have more wounded. Chief Phillips, help would be greatly appreciated.”

The police chief nodded solemnly. “Alright men, you heard Bullseye. We all know Sandman. This isn’t a drill. Keep those guns in their holsters. This man is about to have his world rocked. Let’s just get him contained.”

Officers nodded as they spread out with the club members. All looked worried and a bit scared. This wasn’t just anyone. This was Sandman, who, over the last year, had become a loved and respected member of the town. Not only did the local police department like the big gentle giant, but the whole town also adored him. There wasn’t a single person in this town who wouldn’t bend over backward for the man, especially Sunny.

Hearing the ambulance sirens, I braced myself.

So much for a quiet night.

“Christine, get ready for incoming!” I shouted as the brothers and officers moved to the side, positioning themselves around the emergency room. The loud sirens silenced as the ambulance pulled into the emergency bay. I watched as Jules jumped out of the cab, raced to the back of the bus, and opened the doors. Yanking on the gurney, she popped the legs as it landed on the ground. The next instant, Sandman jumped out as he spoke to Jules, who nodded.

Together, both entered the emergency room.

“Got a seventy-year-old woman who slipped and fell in the kitchen. Vitals are good,” Jules advised, pulling the gurney towards me.

“Christine, get a workup started. Jules will help,” I ordered the young nurse, as Jules moved the elderly woman to one of the other rooms.

Upon seeing all of his brothers and both the Fire Chief and Police Chief, Solomon stopped dead in his tracks.

Nobody moved.

“What?” he said, looking around the room, taking stock of everyone present, men and women.

I took a step towards him.

His eyes locked on mine.

I saw the instant he realized something was wrong.
