He was good at that.

He hated small talk.

“In New York. I’m acting president until he returns,” Bullseye said, firmly holding Hawk’s gaze, daring him to say another word. Could have told Bullseye that shit didn’t fly with Hawk, but no one asked me anything.

“Did some digging into this club,” Hawk smirked. “Don’t like what I saw.”

“Didn’t ask for your opinion.”

Frost, the Disturbed VP, groaned as I smirked. Frost was a good guy. Quiet like me, but when he talked, people listened. Indigo called him the conscience of the club. Whenever Hawk or another member of the club was about to delve deep into the unknown, Frost would always jump in to bring clarity and make sense of things. I learned a lot from Frost in the few years I was with the club. The man was easy to talk to. Mainly he listened a lot, like me.

Like Logic, Frost saw everything.

“What is it with the past biting us in the ass?” Hawk muttered, shaking his head, asking no one in particular. “First, I get a call from King telling me that Hobbs is dead, and my goddaughter is in trouble, and now I learn that my son, the very person I haven’t heard from in years, is also in trouble. Where the fuck did I go wrong?”

“Not you, Prez,” Saint, Disturbed’s Lieutenant, said lowly. “Shit just happens. You know that better than anyone.”

“Hobbs? Sergeant Kevin Hobbs?” Bullseye said, sitting up straighter. “What happened to Hobbs?”

“That’s right,” Hawk sighed. “Shit. You are former military too. A Marine Sharpshooter like me. Fuck. Of course, you knew Hobbs.”

“Yeah, I did. He was a stand-up guy. What the fuck happened to him?”

“Hobbs and his wife Brenda died in a car accident, leaving behind their two children. Sgt. Wade Hiller was behind their death,” Hawk said, holding up his hand before Bullseye could ask a question. “I took care of it. Hiller is dead and Skylar and Cameron are safe. King’s brother, Pyro, claimed her.”

“The widower?” Digger asked.

“Yeah,” Savage added. “Didn’t know you knew the man, Bullseye, or I would have said something. Hawk is right. Skylar and her brother are doing well. I saw the young lady for myself. Ink can verify that.”

Ink nodded.

“Fucking military is a small community. We should have all been there to pay respects. Hobbs saved my ass once. I owed him,” Bullseye whispered.

“Too small,” Hawk nodded before taking a deep breath. “So, what’s going on with my son?”

I stiffened as Bullseye looked towards the corner of the room where I was standing. “You gonna tell him or should I?”

“You might as well talk, ‘cause the kid won’t say shit,” Logic stated truthfully, turning his head to look at me as I cringed. Fucker still saw way too much for my liking. And when he smirked, I knew he saw everything.

“Long story short,” Bullseye began. “Our club had a run-in with Satan’s Angels a while back. A brother from that club, Scab, took an instant dislike to Sandman. It was Scab that ran Sandman’s ol’ lady off the road, damn near killing her.”

Hawk smirked, shaking his head. “A lot of shit left out of that story.”

“Too much shit,” Indigo growled. “For starters, Satan’s Angels have a bounty on every member of this club, including the women. According to the chatter I heard, the kids are to be killed on-site. The women, if not killed, are to be sold to other chapters as whores and used up until dead. As for Solomon, the new Prez of Satan’s Angels has plans for him. Fucker wants to make an example out of Solomon. You guys fucked up by not taking out all their chapters.”

My Golden brothers shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

They didn’t like what they just heard.

Neither did I.

“And don’t forget the Soulless Sinners,” Indigo added. “Satan’s Angels want payback for their involvement too. Gotta say, boys, you sure know how to make friends.”

“Why you after Scab?” I asked, stepping out of the shadows.

Indigo smiled. “There he is. Knew that would get you talking.”

I growled, crossing my arms over my chest.
