“Who?” I cautiously asked, not liking how he was looking at my daughter as he ignored me, walking towards Solomon.

“The Prez’s sister, Fleur. She went missing several years ago. Last we heard she got mixed up in a cult. Never could find her,” Red carefully said as Wraith stopped before Solomon, staring at Soleil.

I stiffened, slowly backing up as I watched my daughter cling to Solomon as he approached.

No.

It was impossible.

My daughter had no family. The club looked for months after Bullseye rescued her and a few others from the Disciples of the Word in Oregon. No one came to claim her.

Walking over to Solomon, I heard Wraith say, “Bonjour, Petite.”

Soleil smiled. “Bonjour, monsieur.”

“She speaks perfect French.”

I nodded, reaching for Solomon’s hand as a sinking feeling consumed me. I wasn’t blind. I could see the similarities between Wraith and Soleil. From the same color hair to their distinct ice-blue eyes.

Wraith was a blood relative to my Soleil.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Sandman

Sitting next to Sunny, who held our daughter protectively in her arms, I glared at Wraith, who refused to stop looking at my daughter.

“It’s uncanny,” he muttered. “She looks just like Fleur at her age.”

“Uh, Prez,” Red said, leaning close. “You are pissing Sandman off.”

I growled.

Wraith shook his head, running his hands through his long blonde hair. “Let’s be real for a minute. I know for a fucking fact the two of you are not her biological parents. She may be legally yours, but she’s not your biological daughter.”

“You are right. We adopted Soleil last year.” Sunny whispered, hugging Soleil closer. “She may not be biologically ours, but she is our daughter.”

“She’s mine.”

Wraith held up his hand. “Not disagreeing with you, Sandman. I’m just asking for her backstory.”

“No.”

“Why not?” Red asked, leaning forward.

“Don’t know it.”

“What do you mean?” another brother asked, looking at his Prez.

“What Solomon means is brothers from the Golden Skulls rescued Soleil from a cult in Oregon last year along with a few other women. When our club tried to locate her parents, we couldn’t find anyone. There were no missing child reports, nothing. Just a scared little girl, who refused to let anyone touch her. The Golden Skulls looked everywhere, even abroad when we discovered Soleil spoke French, thinking she came from France. When months went by and no one claimed her, Solomon and I legally adopted her. She’s been with us ever since.”

Wraith got up from his chair and walked over to a desk, opening the top drawer. Pulling out a picture, he walked around the table and took the seat next to Sunny. Stiffening, I moved closer to protect her when Wraith placed a picture on the table before Soleil, who smiled and chirped, “Maman!”

I watched as Sunny closed her eyes, tears rolling down her face in worry. This was not happening. I just wanted to keep my family safe, not break us apart by complicating matters more.

“Papa, look!” Soleil smiled, handing me the picture. “Maman!”

Reaching for my daughter, I held her as I looked at the woman in the picture, who was an identical match to my daughter, as dread seeped into my bones.
