Chapter Thirty-Two

Sunny

In the days and weeks that followed since the arrival of kids and the other ol’ ladies, I slowly watched where the place my life truly began started to feel like home once more. The brothers wasted no time on the construction of the new clubhouse, even going as far as hiring a construction crew to help get it done faster. Phantom and Matrix were working nonstop to fortify the compound. When Sypher showed up with his brother Ace Franks, along with a few men from Harbor Security, things started getting interesting.

For one thing, Bullseye and Ravage knew Ace from when they grew up in Tennessee. And even though Bullseye was the acting president of the club, everyone noticed how he deferred a lot of things to Ace. I asked Sypher about it, and he told me that Ace was the oldest of the boys in the Tennessee Chapter. As Moonshine’s first-born son, it was supposed to be him who took over when Moonshine died, but Ace refused, going his own way. Ace never cared for the MC life and chose the military over his family. While he still kept in touch with his brothers, he wanted nothing to do with the Golden Skulls.

As for Savage, with Ravage refusing to leave, he took off shortly after, eager to get home to his wife and kids. I was going to miss Savage and his smiling face, but I knew Tennessee wasn’t far and I would see him again one day. After all, he was and always would be family.

Disturbed and the Wraith Warriors refused to leave for different reasons. According to Hawk, he wasn’t going anywhere until he saw his son alive and well with his own eyes. As for Wraith, he refused to go back on his promise and stayed to protect me and Soleil. While Hawk sent most of the Disturbed brothers home, Logic stayed along with Indigo.

Now it was just a waiting game.

Bullseye had reached out to Kansas, who informed him that after the dust settled from the attack on the Diamondback clubhouse, he hadn’t seen Sandman or Reaper and had no idea where they went.

In fact, no one did.

It was like both had just disappeared off the face of the earth.

I wasn’t worried, though.

I couldn’t explain it. I just knew that Solomon was okay, and even Reaper, for that matter. Maybe it was because I believed in hope, but I knew my husband would come home when he was ready. Until then, I would continue as if everything was all right.

“Hey, beautiful,” Indigo smiled, sitting next to me on the front steps of the house I was living in. Well, technically, it wasn’t mine. It was Remi’s house, the one Reaper had built for her.

I was only minding it until either she or Reaper came home.

With Ghost no longer a member of the club, the brothers agreed that Ink and Daphne should take his old place, along with Karlyn. Of course, with Karlyn came Ravage, much to Ink’s frustration, but the brother refused to be separated from her.

As for Bullseye, well, he flat-out refused to live in the house he shared with Kitty and gave it to Player and Catarina. Instead, he purchased a few trailers and the brothers have been using them until they finish the clubhouse.

“Hey.”

“What are you doing sitting here all alone?”

Smiling, I said nothing as he took a seat next to me on the porch. After a few minutes, I whispered, “I missed this place.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. It’s where I first met my sister. Where I first met Solomon. I know this place has a lot of bad memories, but there are so many good ones too. Little Jesse was born here. Ink met Daphne here. Solomon sang to me for the first time under that tree,” I said, pointing to a large oak across the field.

“I can’t imagine Solomon singing.” Indigo chuckled.

“He has a beautiful voice. Unlike me, who can’t sing worth a lick. There is a lot to Solomon that everyone doesn’t know. That I don’t know, but when he shows us a glimpse of the real him, he truly is a beautiful person.”

“Has Solomon ever talked to you about his childhood? His time in Florida?” he cautiously asked, as a tendril of fear sparked deep in the pit of my stomach. Shaking my head, he sighed.

“Do you know why Hawk sent the rest of the club home, leaving only me, Logic, and him here?”

“No. He said it was to make sure Solomon was okay for himself.”

“That’s some of it, but mainly it’s to make sure he doesn’t go off the rails.”

“What do you mean?” I asked as Logic walked over, taking a seat on the other side of me. “He is talking about Solomon’s dark side.”

“You’re talking about when he lets the Sandman out. When he kills.”

“There are many facets to Solomon Goldman. You know him as the friend, the husband, the father, the lover, but there is also the killer. That’s the person I pray you never see,” Indigo stated, then added, “Because it would destroy him if you ever did.”
