Cleaning up and dropping back into the bed barely registered. Only the woman curling up in my arms and then the soft darkness of my first entirely peaceful sleep in a long time.

When I openedmy eyes the next morning, I couldn’t decide whether my strange surroundings or the gorgeous naked man next to me—both of us sans pajamas—was more mind-boggling. A dull throb between my legs brought back memories of the night before, and I let out a contented sigh.

He’d definitely lived up to my fantasies in bed and then some. My body felt incredible, and I wondered if I’d ever experienced such an intense orgasm before. My previous lovers clearly couldn’t hold a candle to this guy.

As his body tensed behind me—not the part currently pressing against my backside—I knew he was awake. I rolled over and felt the bed dip as he hastily exited. I glimpsed his tight ass, still bearing the half-moon imprints my nails had left before he vanished into the bathroom.

Beaming, I propped myself against the pillows, the covers shielding my breasts, and waited. Moments later, he emerged and started getting dressed, avoiding eye contact.

“Bathroom’s free,” he stated redundantly, his words reflecting his discomfort.

“I can see that.” I let my amusement color my words. “You’re freaking out, aren’t you?”

“No.” His eyes darted to my face, and he flushed. “Maybe.”

“Any regrets?” I asked lightly, but the unease churning in my stomach betrayed how much his answer mattered to me.

He ruffled his hair, the other hand fumbling with the remote as if unsure of how to proceed. “It’s just…I haven’t had to deal with a ‘morning after’ talk in a while.”

“Oh, I see. You’re the ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ type,” I teased.

His gaze snapped to mine, eyes widening. “What?”

Laughter spilled out of me as I slipped out of bed, holding the sheet up. “Calm down,” I reassured him. “We had a good time, but I’m not after a ring. I’m not even after a date.”

Relief shone on his face. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to get weird.”

“I get it. Neither of us knew how things would turn out. Now that we’ve cleared up that we’re just having fun...” I walked toward him and stopped, looking at him as I released the sheet.

I watched his mouth drop as I strolled past him and into the bathroom, leaving him to think about it. He seemed to have collected himself when I came out, fully dressed. The intense look in his eyes as they swept over me from head to toe spoke volumes.

As I gazed out the window, I saw the snow had stopped. The clear parking lot and road meant we’d have no problems leaving. I pushed aside a twinge of disappointment at not being snowed in with my new friend, imagining all the fun ways we could have spent the time stuck together.

We stepped into the elevator, its doors sliding shut like a curtain closing on our intimate moment above. In the confined space, there was nothing to distract us from each other - just two strangers who shared an undeniable connection. Heavy with anticipation, our breaths mingled in the air as we sank towards the lobby. There was an unsaid energy between us, an electrifying current that promised something extraordinary beyond these walls. This wouldn’t end simply because we were stepping back into the real world. No, what happened in that hotel room felt bigger than we would ever admit.

After grabbing coffee and some tempting blueberry muffins from a drive-thru, Blaze merged back onto the highway.

We had been driving for about twenty minutes when I noticed he kept sneaking peeks at me as if he wanted to speak but couldn’t find the right words.

“Spit it out,” I encouraged.

“Do you...” He paused, then continued. “Do you do this kind of thing a lot?”

My eyebrows went up.

“Damn. That didn’t come out right,” he quickly added. “I’m not one of those guys who judge women for hooking up or having one-night stands, thinking it’s only okay for men. I’m just curious if...”

“If I always sleep with guys who bring me to cheap motel rooms?” I kept my tone mild, even though I wasn’t annoyed. I felt Blaze might not be as relaxed about us having slept together as I was.

“Dammit. That really does sound awful, doesn’t it?” He rubbed the back of his neck.

A laugh broke from me. “Relax, I get it. And no, this isn’t a regular gig for me. You’re an exception.”

“Is that so?” His chuckle that followed had a tinge of blush to it, and I could tell he dug being special.
