And damn if I didn’t dig his digging.

“How about we avoid comparing our body counts?” I suggested.

“Deal,” he replied with a laugh. “Besides, I’ve lost count anyway.”

“That many conquests? Or too many drunken hookups to remember clearly?”

“Neither. Just spread out over too many years.”

I eyed him skeptically. “Okay, Grandpa, so how old are you really?”

“Thirty-five,” he side-eyed me. “Please don’t say you’re nineteen.”

“Not yet,” I deadpanned. I let the horror fill his face before bursting into laughter. “Kidding! I’m twenty-nine.”

He sighed, relieved. “Jeez, Trisha, don’t scare me like that.”

“You should have seen the look on your face.” I smacked his arm with the back of my hand, then realized what I’d done and clapped a hand over my mouth. “Shit, I’m sorry. I do that sometimes.”

“You know you’re mumbling into your palm, right?”

I lowered my hand, grinning sheepishly. “Apologies. I never quite mastered the art of not talking with a full mouth, either.”

My heart pounded as his gaze shifted to my lips, a dark intensity in his eyes. Oh, damn. What had I just uttered? I could have felt embarrassed or even humiliated, but instead, my mind conjured an overwhelming desire for his enormous cock in my mouth. It was an impossible feat, but the thought of attempting it thrilled me.

The desire lingered as we drove through Grand Junction and got closer to Utah. Even the scenic mountains we passed by couldn’t shake the thought from my mind.

Discovering that part of Route 70 was called Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway managed to distract me for a little while, but that would’ve distracted anyone from anything.

We drove, swapping driving shifts and occasionally grabbing food, but without lingering anywhere for long. Traffic slowed us in the larger cities and in the mountains, and we agreed to drive through the night. Though I doubted it, we both claimed to have slept enough at the hotel. Our sleep had been sound but short. So we drove onward.

When we approached Reno, we both needed to stretch our legs and move around. Because of the weather and traffic in California, the drive from Reno to San Ramon would likely take closer to five or six hours instead of the usual four, but we wanted to press on.

I was eager to see my dad and end the endless driving, yet some of me hesitated to part ways with Blaze. Not after our deep conversations. And certainly not before addressing the burning desire that had been nagging at me since I woke up beside a naked, aroused Blaze. This desire for a repeat had intensified with each passing moment together. Subtle touches, suggestive remarks, and playful banter permeated our conversations, stoking a smoldering tension between us. I needed that tension to explode before we went our separate ways.

The moment I saw the giant Christmas tree in front of a garishly decorated restaurant, an idea struck.

“Let’s eat there,” I suggested.

“Seriously? That’s what you pick?”

I shrugged as I made the turn. “It seems like a lot of fun.”

“I offered to treat you to a fancy restaurant, and you instead choose that? It looks like a Hallmark movie threw up on a kid-themed restaurant.”

“We can get photos with Santa.” I beamed at him. “Come on, from what you’ve told me about your family, don’t you think they’d love to see you in pictures with Santa Claus?”

“I think they’d spend the whole holiday asking if I was on the naughty list.”

I glanced at him, letting warmth fill my tone. “Are you?”

I sensed his gaze on me as I pulled into an empty parking spot, but he remained silent until I turned off the engine.

“I guess you’ll have to find out,” he said with a wicked smile.

The air thickened between us until I thought he’d kiss me, pull me onto his lap, and take me right there in the front seat of the rental. Instead, he reached into the back and surprised me by pulling out the Santa hat the waitress at the diner had made him wear.

“Okay, we’ll eat here, but only ifyouwear the hat this time.”
