Page 24 of His Perfect Gift

His eyes lingered on me, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. I turned away, determined to push forward and not change my mind or question why he was so hot and cold with me.

After paying for my items, I passed through the parking lot, carrying my bag. My apartment was a block away, so I’d walked here.

“Amber, wait.”

I paused, watching as Aaron marched up to me as if on a mission.

“We’re not finished with this conversation.” His words were gruff and bossy. Who the hell did he think he was?

“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought we were. Maybe you were never schooled on social etiquette, so let me help you out. You asked me a question, and I answered it. End of conversation.”

He tilted his head. “No, I asked a question, and you didn’t answer it to my satisfaction.”

I realized he wanted to know who I was specifically entertaining, and I would die before I told him the truth. “Well, then let me clarify.” I bravely stepped toward him with a small smile. “It’s really none of your business who I entertain.”

“Wrong again.” He stepped in, too, crowding over me. “Maybe I’m making it my business.”

I scoffed, knowing I was tempting the lion, but I couldn’t stop the words that were already forming on my lips. “Good luck with that. You do know that I already have a father, and he’s the only one I have to answer to.”

He clasped my elbow none too gently. Not hurting, but enough to let me know he had no problem taking charge. He yanked me against him. “Is that right?” he rasped.

I fought off the headiness of his scent, and his hard body pressed against mine. Steadying my heartbeat, I said, “Yes.”

He bent his head until his sensuous mouth hovered over mine. “Sounds like you need a lesson in obedience.”

The words hung above us like puffs of breath on a chilly winter evening. I’d come this far and wouldn’t back down. “I’d like to see you try.”

“Oh, Princess,” he purred with a devious glint. “There will be no trying about it.”

Before I could reply, he spun us around, dragging me across the parking lot until we approached a black Ferrari.

He popped the hood and deposited our bags inside the trunk. Leading me around to the passenger side, he opened the door. “Get in.”

I kept my face serene as I bent to step in but then yelped when I felt the sting on my ass. “You spanked me.” I eyed him reproachfully.

“Someone needs to curb that sass. Now get in the car before I spank you again.”

I almost tested him. Almost. But I wasn’t that brave. We were in a crowded parking lot on Christmas Eve. Anyone could see us. Also, I knew there were cameras in the parking lot, and I didn’t want us to end up on the news.

I sat down and folded my hands over my lap, wondering where he was taking me.

He slipped in on the driver’s side and revved the engine before speeding out of the parking lot like a Formula One driver.

Clutching the dashboard, I rushed out, “Where are we going?”

“My place.” He shifted gears and sped down the city street like a maniac, keeping his eyes focused ahead of him.

When we made it to his stately mansion, he quickly exited, stalking over to my door and opening it for me. Before I had my feet settled, he tugged me out and lifted me over his shoulder.

“Aaron?” I squirmed under the arm of steel holding me by the back of my thighs.

“Mm-hmm.”

“I can walk.”

“You certainly can.” I heard the click of the trunk and the rustling of plastic bags before he slammed it shut. “But rest assured, I’m going to fuck you so hard you won’t be able to walk for a week, so you may as well get used to not being on your feet.”

Oh. My. God.
