Kandi stands beside me. “They’ve been purchasing and redoing the parks, making them safe for children. For people to go for help. Security cameras, bins, emergency phone boxes, patrols. You name it, they are here. They did all this for you, Missy.”

I let out that sob I’ve been holding in and start to laugh through my tears.

“Right! Who made my girl cry!” I turn and find Lillian. She hugs me hard enough to make my ribs ache, but I don’t care. She feels too thin, but for the first time, I can get a sense of peace from her. She backs away from me and rakes her fingers through her short hair. When she smiles, I see the happiness in her, I see the sadness, too. I remember the haunted way she’d stare into space in the library, the way she would relentlessly work. I remember every single time she saved me from a pack worse than death.

She deserves this.

“You like it?” I whisper.

“I love it. Kenzie would have loved it.”

She lets me go as more people crowd towards me. Sven. Trinity, who looks amazing and gives me a shy hug. Elise and Muse with our good friend Kylie, who beams at me and wipes away tears. She’s basically adopted me, too. All the people who work at Raptore Security who are also family now. We work together to make this world safer for those who have nothing, and I’ve never been more proud of my boys.

I spot Scarlet and her new pack. They look amazing together. I’ve never seen Scarlet glow before. She extracts herself out of her omegas arms and hugs me tight.

“So happy for you.”

“You, too. We have to catch up.”

“We do.” Scarlet smiles wide and shakes her head. “Married?”

I shrug. “They drive a hard bargain.”

Scarlet kisses my cheek and moves back to her pack.

Oma waits for me, and I take her arm as Kandi and Ava merge into the throng of people.

“Scared?”

I shake my head. “No. Not at all.”

“Good. Missy, before you do this, I just need to tell you that you are exceptional in every way. I’m proud of you. Keep those boys in line. They’re broken around the edges, but they have good hearts.”

“I know that, Oma. I love their broken parts, too.”

“I knew you would, darling girl. Take care of my boys.”

“Always and forever.”

She smiles at me and steps to my side. I look up, and I see them, standing just in front of my tree, the one where I met Darion when it all began twelve years ago.

Darion, Sebastian, and Lukas. I don’t know if it’s fate or destiny that brought me to them. I do know that this is a fairy tale. They are my heart beats, the reason I smile, the family I dreamed of having. And suddenly, I can’t wait to get married to live forever with them.
