He jolts, staggering back, staring at me with wide, offended eyes.

Lukas smothers a laugh, chokes on his spoon of noodles, and then bites his knuckles while he watches with avid interest.

“What the fuck?” Darion whisper shouts.

“I’m eating.” I snarl. “Food is sacred.”

He blinks and wipes his face before he rounds the table and leans on it, watching me like he’s not sure what to do with me. Good, score one for the omega.

I eat three more mouthfuls and sigh. “What?” I snap. “You’re ruining my food.”

“Why did you lick me? What is that? Some kind of homeless declaration of war?”

I narrow my eyes in warning.

“Because I’m a child in an adult’s body, and you were behaving like a child. So I did what I’d do to my sisters…” That reasoning suddenly seems tissue thin. Staring at his wide, affronted eyes, my body heats, and I imagine myself licking down his neck, his chest. I blink those images away, but it doesn’t stop the heat inside me.

The room fills with the scent of raspberries and vanilla, thick and sweet. Potent.

Treasonous, bloody, infidel body.

“Keep your tongue in your head, and don’t do that again,” Darion chokes out.

“Yeah, sure.” I mutter, watching him walk away. Holy…why am I staring at his ass? I tear my eyes away, but they just go straight back.

“So…”

I turn to Seb, feeling my cheeks burn. I’m not doing anything. He strokes his beard and watches me cautiously.

“So,” Lukas repeats.

I smile tightly. “This food is fantastic.”

“Nice deflection.”

I lift my chin. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Uh-huh. We’re not going out tonight. Change of plans.”

“Anything wrong?”

Seb shrugs. “Not that you need to worry about.”

“Okay then.” I pick up my spoon, but I’ve lost my appetite.

“So, just enjoy the next few days. We will be coming and going, but we’re going to be pretty busy,” Seb explains. “We’ll probably not be around much.”

I nod. “I’ll just focus on my stuff then.” I say, but I can’t help feeling dejected. Abandoned, even.

“Great. Our assistants Renee or Sven will drive you to Oma’s every morning and bring you home. If you need anything, just let her know, and she’ll get it for you.” Seb’s relief at my acceptance is easy to see.

I lean back and study him for a long, silent moment.

“Do not blow up the city,” I say deadpan. “I’ve got things I want to see.”

He laughs, and it’s warm and wraps around me, reminding me that this is the person I want to curl up with and let kiss my booboos. Fuck, no!

“Like what?”
