Was he watching me sleep?

My breaths are rapid and my heart pounds in my chest. He stares down at me. His fingers grip my wrist, a jolt of electricity zaps through my skin as I watch him move his thumb back and forth over my skin. I let out a soft gasp as he moves his fingers up and stops to my cheek. He caresses it for a few seconds before pulling his hand away as if I burned him.

He goes to leave me again, but I grip his arm.

“Please don’t leave me alone again, please,” I plead, tears filling my eyes. I hate that I have somewhat become accustomed to his presence, but I hate the dark, and being alone in this room is way scarier than the man before me.

“Are you begging me to stay, princess?” His voice is so deep it sends shivers down my spine. My hand tightens around his arm and he tenses under me. I feel the muscles twitch as his arm moves.

I lean up, and slowly lift my arm, placing my hand over his forearm. He watches as I caress his arm as gently as I can.

He stares down at me as my hand travels up, trying to distract him, maybe even use myself as a vice. He watches as I move that little bit more, my fingers brushing over the hairs on his arm.

“You brought me here for a reason, right?” I don’t miss how my voice shakes as I speak. I’ll do whatever it takes to survive.

Whatever he wants.

He swallows and I watch his Adam's apple bob in his throat as he does.

“I told you you’re a debt,” he simply says.

“Did my father do something?” I question.

His nostrils flare, his stare becomes intense, and the darkness in his eyes causes fear to course through me.I touched a nerve.

“No more questions,” he says.

“B-but,” I begin.

“I said enough.” He raises his voice, clenching his hands together. I watch as his knuckles turn a ghostly white and his breathing is erratic as he focuses his glare toward me.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” I murmur, keeping my gaze down afraid he’ll use it against me.

He stands ready to leave.

“W-wait,” I stammer. Turning his head, he looks me over before tilting his head to the side, his eyebrow raising as he waits.

Watching me, my skin tingles as his eyes burn through me.

My body betrays me, a feeling washes over me, and I make a needy sound when he moves the muscles in his shoulders, flexing as he does.

What the hell is wrong with me?

“It doesn't matter why you’re here, kitten. All that matters is that I'm going to enjoy owning every little piece of you.” His tongue darts out wetting his lips.

“Why?” I breathe, sounding desperate.

“Because I can,” he says.

My gaze travels down, the stubble on his chin is barely there, and a deep growl eliminates down in his throat. The tension between us builds, the thickness feels like it’s coating my throat from the inside out.

“Savannah.” I stiffen as my name falls from his lips. There’s a pause, and then he smirks. Moving toward me, his breath blows across my cheek as he leans into me.

“This won’t work, Savannah,” he murmurs, moving his fingers through my hair.

“I-I don’t know what you mean,” I grit out.

Letting out an amused chuckle, he moves back slightly. “Are you that lonely, kitten?” he says as he grabs my chin with his fingers and yanks it up exposing my neck.
