I wasn’t really expecting it, but then I glanced to my side and saw Demetrius and Vlad standing next to me. Being flanked by two tall, handsome Russian men definitely helped in that situation, and I couldn’t help but smirk as they slowly lowered their weapons and laid down on the floor. A few men entered behind us and collected them while I confidently walked past. I have an appointment... with my father.

Vlad and Demetrius graciously open the doors for me so I can enter my father’s office. Aldo was standing there, his gun aimed at my father. As my father remained seated at his desk, observing my grand entrance.

“Ah,” he sneers, his voice dripping with disdain. “The prodigal daughter returns. Come for revenge, have you?”

“Something like that,” I reply coolly, my voice laced with determination.

He raises an eyebrow, a skeptical smirk playing on his lips. “A little dramatic, don’t you think? Even for you.”

I chuckle, motioning to my sleek black outfit and the weight of the gun in my hand. “Just a little something I had planned. Did you know that you’re going to die today?”

He snorts dismissively, disbelief etched on his face. “Oh, and let me guess, you’re going to be the one to do it?”

“Did you think that you could sell me and I would never fight back? Did you really think I would just roll over and take it?” I retort, my voice seething with anger. “You were wrong. Now look at the mess you have caused.”

“Me? You were the one who killed Salvatore. And you brought the Bratva into our lives. I did everything for you,” he protests, his voice tinged with desperation.

“You did everything for you. You never thought of anyone but yourself,” I shoot back, my words cutting through the tension.

“You are my daughter. I gave you the life you deserved,” he argues, his voice filled with a mix of bitterness and regret.

“You never cared about me. Not once. You didn’t even try to protect me from Salvatore. You handed me to him. You even saw the abuse,” I say, my eyes briefly shifting to Aldo, who looks visibly disturbed. “He had his men beat me and rape me. So yes, you are right. I did kill him. And I would gladly do it again,” I declare, my voice steady despite the pain that lingers.

“You don’t have it in you, daughter. You have always been a disappointment. A failure,” he sneers, his words like venom.

“Well, you’ll never know. I might have been pushed enough that I can. But you have to ask yourself this. Are you really willing to bet on that? Besides, you have a choice to make,” I say, my voice filled with a chilling resolve.

“You have no right to give me a choice. I am the Don,” he asserts, his tone defiant.

I glance at Vlad, and he gives me a subtle nod of approval. “Well, you are either going to walk away and agree to be judged for your crimes by the families, or I am going to kill you and take over. Either way, the result will be the same.”

“You wouldn’t dare,” he challenges, his voice trembling with a mixture of fear and arrogance.

“Try me,” I reply, my words sharp and unwavering.

He looks at me, his eyes narrowing, and then glances around the dimly lit room, the desk light casting eerie shadows on the walls. “What kind of choice is that?” His voice carries a hint of disbelief. The faint scent of old books and cigar smoke lingers in the air. “You can’t possibly think you are in any position to be given demands. Do you?” He locks his gaze on me, his piercing stare making my skin crawl. I shift uncomfortably, feeling the weight of his scrutiny. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him turn his attention to Aldo, his face contorted with disdain. “She is a woman. You can’t honestly think she can lead the family.”

The words hang in the air, heavy with prejudice. My heart pounds in my chest, a mix of anger and determination fueling my resolve.

“You have no idea what your daughter can do. You never did. I have seen her. I have watched her fight. I have watched her survive. I have seen her love. She can do this.”

The room falls silent, the tension palpable. I bite my lip, trying to contain my astonishment. He already expressed his support, but the depth of his belief surprises me. “Well, you’re a man and a huge fuckup. What’s your excuse?” His voice drips with venom as he speaks to my father.

My grip tightens around the cold metal of my gun, the weight of it grounding me in this dangerous moment.

“You fucking bitch!”

The words explode from him as he lunges to his feet; the chair crashing to the floor. In one swift motion, I pull the trigger, the sharp crack of the gunshot piercing the air. Pain shoots through his thigh, and he crashes back into the chair, his face contorted in agony.

“Ah ah ah, no name-calling. That’s just bad form, Daddy dearest. You will show me some respect.” I assert, my voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

His threats fill the room, his anger swirling like a tempest. “You will pay for this. Do you hear me? All of you will.” His words hang in the air, a chilling reminder of the danger that surrounds us.

“Threats, Daddy? That doesn’t really suit you. I’m done talking. Now it’s time to choose.” The room feels charged, the air heavy with anticipation.

“Fuck you, Rose.” His voice drips with venom, but I remain resolute.

“Wrong answer.”
