ABBEY

Icouldn’t keep the smile off my face. I’d walked in and overheard Duke and Liam talking. It wasn’t like I tried to be quiet coming in. Jax even greeted me at the door.

My heart soared when they mentioned they wanted me to stay. I wanted to laugh and cry with joy when Liam mentioned he’d already been working on a plan to win me over.

When Liam mentioned painting, I couldn’t stay quiet any longer. I couldn’t wait to get my hands dirty again. It’d been so long since I was able to paint. Jeff hated it. He was afraid I’d get paint all over the apartment and said it was pointless for me to waste money on paints and canvases when I wasn’t going to do anything with them.

Duke and Liamwantedme to paint, to see the ranch and horses on canvas. Count me in.

“How much did you hear?” Duke’s body tensed. His growl was less intimidating now that I knew how he felt. I smiled and placed my hand on his face.

“Enough.” I stroked his cheek, and he leaned into my palm. “You shaved.”

He didn’t say anything, and I was pretty sure he was going to wait me out until I admitted what I’d heard. “I walked in when you were talking about when we were in town.”

His shoulders drooped. “I have to get to work.”

He was pulling in on himself, and I realized when he had an episode, he didn’t want to expose me to his thoughts. He was afraid of scaring me off. “Hey, I’m happy I was able to be there for you. Okay?”

He grunted an acknowledgment.

At least it was a start. “Why this?” I patted his cheek and smiled. I thought he was ridiculously handsome either way, but I’d gotten used to the beard.

“Need to be clean shaven for work,” he responded, his voice gruff.

“That’s a shame. I like the scruff.” I came up on my toes, and Duke met me halfway. Our lips touched, and I felt the hum of electricity run through my veins. Liam was behind me in a second, kissing my neck and stroking my sides.

I loved how they showed their affection. Fingers on my chin pulled me from Duke’s lips, and Liam placed his upon mine.

“Can this be a regular thing?” I asked when he lifted his head from mine. I wanted to be greeted with their delicious kisses every time I saw them.

“What?” Duke kissed my shoulder.

“These kisses.” I rubbed noses with Liam.

“I promise to kiss you every chance I get. Every time I see you.” Liam let his lips brush over mine.

“Every opportunity I can, I would love to have my lips on you,” Duke whispered in my ear, and my knees went weak. I could get used to this.

Duke placed me on the island. I loved the way his large body fit between my thighs. Liam stood next to him.

I looped one arm around Liam and the other around Duke. “So, you want me to stay here with you?”

“Yes,” they said in unison.

“Are you sure?” I bit my lip. I didn’t really want to leave and couldn’t think of a reason why I had to. These two men made me feel like the person I was before things went bad with Jeff. I’d thought it was too soon to find love right after my breakup, but I felt more loved by them than I ever had with Jeff.

I was ready to knock down the wall I’d built around my heart. Their words and actions had started to heal all the hurt and suffering I’d faced. When the time was right, I wanted to share that with them, so they knew how much I appreciated the ways they made me happy.

There was a very good chance I was falling in love with them.

“Dulcinée, we don’t want you to leave. We think you belong here with us.” Liam rubbed his palm against my waist.

I sucked in a breath. It was one thing to overhear them say these things about me. It was another to have them tell me to my face. But I had to keep a level head. I needed to know exactly what they meant.

“Just for now? Or for more than that?”

Duke’s hand slid up my thigh and squeezed. “Darlin’, you have no clue what you’ve done to us.”
