“I love you, too, Dakota. I always have.”

She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her tongue snaked out to tease his lips into opening. He gave her what she wanted, and more.

Never breaking contact with her lips, Logan got up. Dakota wrapped her legs tightly around his waist. He carried her to the bedroom, and then laid her against the firm mattress. He kissed her neck. “Koty,” he breathed into her neck. “If you want to stop, now’s the time.”

“I don’t want to stop.” She arched her back toward his body. “Logan. I meant everything I said. Tell me you want me.”

He kissed her. “I’ll always want you, Dakota. That won’t ever change.”

“Then show me.”

God bless Aunt Jeannie and her advice. Her words were all the incentive he needed. His hand roamed down her body as if for the first time. In the past, he had touched her thousands of times, but never like this. Not like a man touched his lover. This was new for him, and he made the most of it. His fingers drifted over the skin-tight material clinging to her body, molding itself reverently to her flesh. It was his chance to do the same, and he savored every sweet, tortuous moment of easing her dress over her head and off her body. Next came her silk bra and panties.

He stilled for a moment. Seeing Dakota naked on his bed, waiting for him with passion-clouded eyes and a welcoming smile, was a dream…his dream. The image was one he was old friends with, and the real vision did not disappoint. Then his hands replaced his eyes on her naked skin. He marveled at the feel. It was a pleasure he had always longed for, but never received. Now they were here. It was real, and Logan wanted to revel in every nuance of her body and commit each inch to memory.

Her thigh rode higher against his waist while his other hand held her leg firmly in place. When she leaned up to slide her tongue across the sensitive peak on his neck, the shock it sent barreling through his body was explosive.

He sucked in his breath in reaction. “God, Koty.”

In one swift motion, he rolled over and placed Dakota against his middle so she could straddle his hips. He wrapped his arms around her to hold her firmly in place.

“Logan,” she moaned.

“I’m right here, sweetheart.”

His hands went up to tenderly hold her face captive. He devoured her mouth. A multitude of longing was relayed from his lips to hers. That was all the incentive he needed to end one form of sweet torture and begin another. He made quick work of removing his clothes, putting a condom on and returning to the warmth of her body.

At no point in his life had he actually thought his greatest wish would be achieved. Sure, he had wanted Dakota for his own, and had dreamed countless times of how it would feel to be buried deep inside her, but all the musings of his teenage and then adult subconscious had inadequately prepared him for the reality of the exact moment when their bodies melded into one.

There were no words Logan could remember, much less verbalize to express the emotions overloading his mind and body. Instead, he turned himself over to pure feeling: the feel of her breath as it mingled with his when he moved against her. The touch of her fingers everywhere they connected to his skin as she held on to him. The texture inside her body as it tightened around him, firm and warm. The sound of her voice as she moaned her pleasure and called his name. The urgency that coursed through his veins as they both spiraled out of control toward their release, and the weightlessness he felt as he climaxed, followed by the elation of bringing her with him at that exact moment.

Those were the things he would always remember about the first time he made love to Dakota Michelle Carson.

One thing Dakota could say about the first time she and Logan made love: it was the best she had ever had. To her, it felt as though she had been waiting for this moment her entire adult life. There were only two lovers in her past, and neither of them held a candle to Logan Montague. He had flipped the script on her limited memory of what made an incredible lover. There was not one thing he had done, said, tried, licked, kissed or stroked that had not left her weak in the knees and wanting more. Their bodies were made for each other, plain and simple. No one but him would ever do. Being well and truly loved by Logan had left her crying and laughing at the same time. Who knew that was even possible?

“I can’t believe that took this long to get right.” She sighed blissfully.

He grinned that satisfied grin of a man who has hit that magic spot that makes their woman temporarily lose her mind.

“True, but we’re there now, so everything from here on out is icing on the cake.”

Dakota was sprawled on top of Logan, her head resting on his chest. His arms came up to anchor her to his body. He kissed the bridge of her nose.
