Rohan ended his call and returned to bed, pulling her atop him as he always did. As usual, he played with her hair, twisting the strands in his fingers. He had this bizarre fascination with her hair, especially the red-colored tips of her hair. Not that she minded…she didn’t. In fact, she reveled in all the attention he gave her.

“All okay at work?” she asked, drawing circles on his bare chest with her fingers.

“Yes, I was just discussing cross breeding some of my horses with an Earl in London. I’d just finished meeting him before I bumped into you at the airport that day.”

She smiled. “Impressive.”

He shrugged, not saying anything. She looked at him. He smiled at her. She was happy to note that the darkness she’d always felt had been around him had disappeared ever since she’d started living with him.

“I still have to give you riding lessons,” he said.

“Um, soon.” She snuggled into his chest.

He tugged her hair, forcing her to look at him. “Each time I remotely suggest the idea, you back off. You’re comfortable with the horses, but riding one makes you wary. I thought you liked riding when you were a kid.”

“I was a kid then,” she said. “Now I’m scared of falling off.”

“You won’t.”

“We’ll discuss this later. Right now, there’s something else I want to talk to you about,” she said, her fingers deliberately skating on his skin.

He stilled her hand. “Your deflection skills need to be amped up.”

She made a face.

“Okay, fine,” he relented. “What is it that you want to talk about?”

“You and I’ve been together for two whole weeks. Where do we go from here?”

“It’s up to you. What do you want?” He pulled her closer to him, dipping his nose in the side of her throat, breathing her in. “Quite frankly, I don’t want you to leave. I haven’t had enough of you.”

Happiness bubbled inside her on hearing him say exactly what she was feeling.

“I don’t want to leave either,” she whispered. “Not just yet.”

“Then don’t. Stay with me.”

“And what should I tell my sister and my friends?”

He lifted her chin. “This is about you and me, Jiya. No one needs to know we’re together. I refuse to allow anyone to intrude or judge my decisions. I want you and you want me, and that’s enough for me.”

“You want us to stay hidden from the world?”

He shrugged.

She ought to have expected that from him. He was the most shuttered and private person she knew. He’d told her he didn’t trust very many people. From his perspective, it made sense that he’d want to keep quiet about them. She, however, didn’t like this idea very much.

“You could try putting your trust in a few people,” she said. “It may not be all that bad, you know. And honestly, to be truly happy, you have to let people in.”

“You think?” he scoffed. “Tell me honestly then. Will Raashi not give you a hard time after you tell her that you’re sleeping with me? Will she not try to color your mind and judgement against me?”

She bit her lip. Shit. He was right. But still…

“Nothing she says will change my mind about you,” she replied. “Hence, I’m willing to risk it.”

“I, however, am not. In my experience, Raashi has ruined things for me before, and I won’t allow that to be repeated with you.”

Jiya rose up, eyeing him carefully. “What do you mean?”
