“At one time, Keya and Raashi were very judgemental about me, and they used their influence over Rithwik to create problems between him and me.”

She squinted. “That sounds like more of a Rithwik problem than Keya’s or Raashi’s problem. He needn’t have listened to them.”

His frown deepened as if he’d never considered that scenario. She wiped the crease with her fingers.

“Relax. I’m not pitting you against Rithwik. I’m just saying those women are wonderful humans and would do anything for their loved ones. You ought to have cleared the air with Raashi and Keya years ago. This sounds like something that needs to be addressed, Rohan.”

“Rithwik and I had been estranged for years until he met Aisha, and she forced him to talk it out with me. Forgive me if I choose to stay away from the women who ruined my life once.”

For years, she’d heard about the animosity between Rohan and the two most special women in her life, and she definitely felt he needed to tackle his issues with them, especially now that she was with him.

She clucked her tongue. “At some point, you will need to address this. They are important to me.”

He tugged her down on top of him. “Today, however, is not that day.”

He kissed her lips again. She got lost in him like she always did. But her instincts warned her to be careful. Hiding from the world was not the right way to begin a relationship.

When Rohan moved on top of her, her heart lost the battle with her mind. She was falling in love, and there was nothing she could do about it.

She’d figure things along as they went, she told herself. For now, being with him was enough. He was the only man who’d made her heart soar. He was the only man who’d managed to sweep her off her feet, and she was going to keep him for as long as she wanted, even if she kept him hidden for a while. Maybe one day soon, she’d gather the guts and tell him what she felt for him. Perhaps that could be the catalyst in taking their relationship forward.

Rohan looked out of his office window. The sun had set, and the sky was quickly darkening. He smiled, thinking about the last weeks. He and Jiya had been living together, and it had been…perfect. He was…happy. His face tipped in a smile as the emotion spread inside his chest. He truly was happy...for himself and not for someone else.

It was not an emotion that he commonly felt for himself. For years, he’d gone on with life, being mildly satisfied. Neither happy, nor sad. Yes, he was happy when Rithwik was happy, or when his parents were happy. But for himself, he’d never genuinely been happy until now… Until Jiya.

Perhaps, it was the fact that ever since she’d started sleeping in his bed, he’d been getting a good full night’s rest, something that had been absolutely foreign to him before her. She was the reason for everything changing around him, and he liked it. A lot.

Being with her made him feel whole and not alone when, earlier, he’d always been lonely and empty. Every corner of his home was filled with her laughter and warmth. Her chatter, her music, her talks with Xerxes, the special smiles that she only gave him, the long walks she took him on after dinner, the way she gave herself to him, all of it was so endearing. He was changing, believing in things he’d never believed in before. Jiya was mending him…carefully stitching all the torn parts of him that had been shredded since years. With her, he was beginning to feel whole again.

For the first time, he considered the fact that maybe he deserved to be happy too. That perhaps, he could make her happy as well. He never thought he’d feel so much for a woman, but she…she was making him feel what he’d never felt before. His heart lifted on that thought.

There was a knock on his office door and Jiya popped her head inside.

“Hi! Are you busy?” she asked.

His face split into a wide smile. He’d been thinking about her, and she’d appeared in front of him. These days he was always thinking of her when she wasn’t around, but most especially when she was around. Then, he couldn’t get his eyes and mind to function properly.

“I’m never too busy for you. Now, come here.”

She arched a brow, walking closer to him. “You know we’re in the office, right? On most days, you keep like a mile-long distance from me here.”

She rounded his desk and dropped the papers she was holding on to it. He tugged her hand. She fell in his lap, holding his shoulders.

“There is no one watching us,” Rohan said. “I can do as I wish with you.”

Before she could say anything, he caught her lips in a long kiss.

Jiya deepened the kiss, pressing closer to him. She tasted of one of the various juices that she consumed on a daily basis. Today it was orange again—tangy and sweet, just like her.

“You’re distracting me,” she said, clinging to his mouth.

“I think it’s working.”

She caught his face and stared at him. “I want you too, you know that. But anyone could walk in on us, and we haven’t made us official yet.”

She was right. Perhaps, it was time to tell the world about them. Jiya was his, and he wanted to shout that from the rooftops. Jiya jumped out of his lap and picked up the papers she’d brought with her. She handed him the sheets.
