Keya stepped forward. “Jiya’s been infatuated with you since the beginning. And you’re just taking advantage of her.”

“Why would I do that?”

“To get back at us, maybe,” Keya retorted. “God knows, you’ve always considered Raashi and me the negatives in your equation with Rithwik. Hurting Jiya maybe your way of punishing us.”

“I already hurt her…” Rohan sighed.

Raashi’s eyes rounded. “What the fuck did you do?”

“I broke her heart,” Rohan admitted. “But—”

Raashi threw her hands in the air. “That’s it. I don’t want to hear anything more. That’s why Jiya returned from Delhi. I should have probed. But I’d promised her I wouldn’t fuss if she ever decided to quit Fortuna Finance. Hence, I held my tongue when she returned home. My instincts about you were right. You only know how to cause hurt, and you hurt her.”

“I—” Rohan began, but Raashi refused to listen to him.

She turned away and faced Rithwik and Aisha. “Did you two know about this?”

Aisha nodded slowly, while Rithwik remained still.

“Jiya didn’t tell me anything about Rohan and her.” Raashi’s face was filled with despair. “And now you two? You both are my closest friends, and you also didn’t tell me? How could you?”

“We only just found out yesterday. You have to listen to Rohan, Raashi…” Aisha placated. “There’s more to his story.”

“And I don’t care about any of it,” Raashi said. “I’m leaving.”

“So am I,” Keya concurred. “This is just too much. He admitted that he hurt Jiya, and you seem to be okay with that.”

“You have to listen to him,” Aisha repeated. But the girls wouldn’t budge.

“Raashi, Keya…” Rithwik finally spoke. “If you leave my house without talking to Rohan, it means that we are done. We won’t be friends after this.”

Both the girls swivelled.

“What?” Keya squeaked.

“What the hell, Rithwik?” Raashi said, sounding hurt. “I can’t believe you’re saying this.”

Rithwik took a step closer to them. “You both are my closest friends, and I have chosen you over Rohan many times in the past. I won’t make that mistake again. Either you both listen to what my brother has to say, or we end our friendship here and now.”

Rohan felt as stunned as the two women beside him. His brother was actually willing to let go of them for him?! For years, his foremost bone of contention with Rithwik had been that he’d chosen these two girls over Rohan. That he’d put them first…always. And now, to hear this, was…was… His heart soared.

“I don’t believe you,” Raashi said.

“You can’t do without us,” Keya told Rithwik. “Just as we can’t do without you. We will resolve things with you, just not right now.”

“Not this time, Keya,” Rithwik said sharply. “Try me and see what happens.”

They looked at him and then at each other as if deciding.

“You both need to hear Rohan out,” Sameer said.

“I agree,” Kabier said.

“What?” Raashi and Keya said in unison.

“Rithwik is the glue that binds us all together,” Sameer said. “I refuse to lose Aisha and him because of some juvenile feud you have going on with his brother.”

“Sameer and I have spoken about this issue several times in the past,” Kabier said. “We both felt that you girls and Rohan needed to talk and sort things out. But all your egos have been too high to come to the table together. But now, he’s let his ego aside. It’s time you both did the same.”
