“My turn,” Rajiv said, taking the striker.

“I don’t like you,” Sheena grumbled. “You made me miss that shot. Such a cheater you are.”

Her hands sneaked below the table to distract him in a similar way he had done to her. She placed a hand on his thigh, inching up.

“Stop that, Sheena. Stop touching me,” he said aloud, making her blush even more. God. He was truly impossible.

Ananya and Navya shared a knowing look.

“New rule. Hands up where we can see them.” Navya ordered Sheena. “I want no hanky panky while he is taking a shot.”

“Now you say that, after he made me miss mine,” Sheena grumbled. “He?—”

Ananya shut her ears, shaking her head. “Please, we don’t want to hear what you both are doing to each other under the table. That’s disgusting.”

“Can you like practice some control?” Navya teased. “We don’t want to hear or see ‘those’ details of your relationship like ever.”

Oh God. Now, even the tips of her ears burned.

Rajiv chuckled, lining his shot. “Girls, you’re embarrassing her. Can’t you see she’s blushing? Besides, making her feel hot and bothered is my job, not yours. And I’m very good at it, right, Princess?”

He winked at Sheena. Oh God. She couldn’t believe he’d said that. In front of his sisters, that too. Sheena wanted to hit him.

He struck the striker with full force. It swung in the direction of the queen, pushing it inside the left corner pocket, away from him. He looked up and grinned at Sheena.

“What did I tell you? The queen will only be mine.”

She showed him her tongue. “You have to take the cover next. Let’s see if you can.”

“Challenging me as always, hmm?”

He looked at the board in front of him, deciding his next play. He lined the striker, aiming it to hit the opposite railing. It bounced against it and came running back to hit the black cover into Rajiv’s immediate right pocket. Shit. He won.

He arched his brows at her and laughed.

She threw a cushion at him. “Arrogant ass. You made me lose.”

She tossed another cushion at him. He caught this one with a hand, still laughing. His phone rang. He answered without even seeing the caller ID.

“Yes,” he said, laughing.

His expression immediately sobered. He checked something on his phone calendar, and his face hardened.

“I know…” he said. His eyes fell on Sheena. “Of course, I’ll be there.”

He disconnected the line and stood, all the fun and playfulness gone from his eyes.

He addressed Sheena. “I… I have something important to take care of. I need to head out.”

“Now?”

“Yes.”

Sheena frowned. “Sure. But is everything alright?”

“Yes, all good.” He faced his sisters. “Can one of you drop Sheena home?”

His sisters looked at him questioningly.
