Neil looked at her and then at Rajiv. “Uncle Aaryan said that she’s going to be my new aunty.”

“She is,” Rajiv affirmed.

She gave the little boy a smile. She held out her hand, and he put his little hand in hers.

“My mom said you are marrying Uncle Rajiv,” he told her.

Sheena gasped, her eyes falling on Rajiv. “W…What?”

Marriage? Her breath hitched. They hadn’t discussed that far yet.

“See, Rajiv, you are an idiot,” Vihaan said.

“Language!” Avantika repeated.

“Why have you not proposed yet?” Vihaan asked him.

“Because he’s an I D I O T,” Aaryan repeated.

Sheena stared at all of them, her mouth open. They were discussing her marriage so casually, as if it was a given. Perhaps, it was. But she needed to discuss it with Rajiv first. She looked at him. He was glaring at his friends. They didn’t seem to be affected by him at all. They continued grinning at him.

“Guys,” Rajiv began, “I haven’t gotten to that part yet. Explaining everything to her took time.”

Vihaan ran a hand through his long hair. “Is that all that you were doing?”

“Shut up, Vihaan, you’re stealing my thunder,” Rajiv said.

Her heart stumbled. Did that mean that Rajiv wanted to propose to her?

“Oh God,” Sheena dropped back on the sofa. “I think my head is spinning with everything.”

“Relax, Princess,” Rajiv said. “I don’t have a ring yet.”

Sheena stared at him, her mouth hanging open. She exhaled. “I don’t even know what to say to you. If this is your way of proposing, then it sucks. I need to hear the words.”

Avantika laughed. “I like her.”

“I told you, you would,” Aaryan said.

“Why don’t you propose to her right now?” Vihaan put forth.

“Are you fuc—” Rajiv looked at Neil, then stopped what he was saying. Neil wriggled in Rajiv’s arms. He set him down. Neil ran to the little garden outside and began kicking a football around.

“So, you were saying...” Vihaan asked.

“You’re a dick,” Rajiv said. “Do you expect me to propose to her here in front of you all?”

“Yeah, why not?” Aaryan said.

Rajiv looked as shocked as her.

“I want to propose to her when I have a ring,” Rajiv finally said.

Avantika placed a red velvet box on the table in front of them.

Sheena’s hands went to her mouth. “Oh God. Please tell me this is not what I think it is.”

She couldn’t comprehend that Rajiv’s friends had bought an engagement ring for her from their side. She didn’t know what to make of it.
