Rajiv touched his forehead to hers before placing her gently on her feet, but he wouldn’t let her move from his side. He snaked an arm around her waist and kept her plastered to him.

Kabier looked at the two of them. “I want to apologize to both of you. I didn’t understand how much you truly loved one another until the moment I heard Rajiv panic when he learned that you were missing. I never knew what true love was until I saw Rajiv beat that man within an inch of his life.” He looked at Sheena. “You came to tell me about your happy moment, and I didn’t take it seriously. You left the house in a fit of anger, and I didn’t even realize it, and for that, I will never forgive myself.”

“It was a stupid thing to do,” she admitted. “I was upset and wasn’t thinking straight. I never should have left the house.”

Rajiv’s hand tightened around her waist. She caressed his hand, calming him down.

Kabier addressed Rajiv. “I was wrong about you. In my defence, I believed all the articles printed about you over the years, and Sheena… She’s been through so much already. I didn’t want to see her hurt. I thought that you’d hurt her, that you weren’t ever going to be serious about her. That even if you married her, you wouldn’t be faithful to her. I’m sorry for being prejudiced about you without getting to know you.”

Kabier held his hand out to Rajiv. “Can we start again, please? For Sheena’s sake?”

Rajiv shared a look with Sheena. She nodded, and he put his hand in Kabier’s.

Kabier gave Sheena a smile. He looked at Rajiv. “Can you let go of her for just a few seconds so I can give her a hug? I was worried sick about her.”

Rajiv reluctantly released her, and Kabier pulled her to him. He held her for a few moments before releasing her. Kabier looked at his friend, VJ Bellani, who was waiting patiently at the side.

“Will you ensure that Karan and his friends remain imprisoned for the rest of their lives?” Kabier asked him.

VJ lowered his jaw in a regal nod. He gave Sheena a warm look. “Still getting into trouble, Sheena?”

“I think trouble has become my middle name!” Sheena shook her head. “But no more. God, I’m done with all the trouble.”

She looked at the door. “Will he be let out again?”

“No, Sheena,” VJ assured her. “He was released yesterday, and after his attack on you, I will ensure he remains behind bars for life. I promise that you will never have to worry about him again, okay?”

Sheena swallowed. This was over. The past was dealt with once and for all. Rajiv pressed her closer to his side, as always, understanding her concern and her relief.

“Come on!” Kabier smiled. “Mom is freaking out. Let’s go home and assure her that you’re okay. By now, the whole family must have already learned about your kidnapping. They all must be home, so let’s use this gathering to celebrate your engagement.”

Kabier looked at Rajiv. “I hope the engagement is a short one. I will breathe better once I know she’s safe in Dubai with you, forever.”

Rajiv returned his smile. “I am ready to marry her tonight.”

Sheena shook her head. “Absolutely not. I want a loud wedding with all the ceremonies and functions.”

“Oh God!” Rajiv and Kabier groaned at the same time.

When she was finally seated in the car beside Rajiv, he pulled her to him again.

He held her close, resting his chin on her head. “Princess, you got me so worried. Honestly, let’s just get married tonight, please. Choose a temple, and I will marry you right now, right here.”

Her heart warmed. She clasped his cheek. “You know, I never expected to trust a man enough to fall in love with him. But you… It was so easy to fall for you. You complete me, too, you know. I have never felt safer with anyone as much as I feel with you. I can’t tell you how relieved I felt when I saw you enter the house tonight. I knew it then and there that you’d make everything alright.”

“I’d do anything for you,” he said.

So much emotion exploded in her chest. “I cannot express in words how much I love you, Rajiv. And that’s why I want to celebrate our wedding. I want your family to be there. I want my friends to be there. Keya, Raashi, and I have been planning our weddings since years. We even have a dance planned for one of the functions. I used to go along with their plans even though I never believed I’d actually get to the point of marrying someone.” She smiled. “But now, I have a chance to fulfil my dream. So, call your parents and sisters to Mumbai; let them plan with us. Let us have the loudest, craziest wedding ever. And then, as we’ve planned, we’ll have a very private scene with the Rajpoots.”

“Alright, Princess. Your wish is my command.” He pressed his mouth to hers. She held on to him, feeling like her world had settled in exactly the way that was meant for her.

In a few minutes, she’d introduce Rajiv to her entire family. She was going to marry the man of her dreams, and she couldn’t be happier. Good things took time. They sometimes came accompanied with despair and heartache, but in the end, she had no regrets. Life had finally taken her down the path she was always meant to walk. Meeting Rajiv in her kitchen that first time and then moving to Dubai, meeting him again, and falling in love with him had been destined for her. She and he were written in the stars and she couldn’t wait to begin the next phase of her life with him.
