“Hey, what’s up?”

“They said you were leaving. You’re going by yourself?” he asks as he slides his jacket on.

“Ummm,” I stammer, trying to come up with an answer. If I say yes, he’ll undoubtedly offer to come with me and if I say no, he’ll wonder who I’m leaving with.Fuuuuuck.“I’ll be fine,” I say not answering his question.

“It’s late.”

“It’s Miami. It’s neverlatehere. It’s midnight, so basically seven-thirty.” I laugh.

“Still, I was thinking about leaving anyway. I’ll go with you.”

“Liam, I’m totally fine to go by myself.”

“Okay? So, we can’t share an Uber to the same place?” he asks and I can hear the accusation in his voice. I don’t know what to say to that and even though it would create a huge problem, I really wish Wes was here. I don’t say anything so he continues. “Look, I know you just told me you have a boyfriend because I was coming on a little strong and I’m sorry for that. I really like you and I hate that I’ve made you so uncomfortable.” I don’t say anything because I don’t know what to say. “You’re just so…beautiful,” he starts and I realize now that he’s even more intoxicated than he was when I talked to him earlier.

“I do…have a boyfriend.”

“My Uber is here.” He doesn’t acknowledge what I say as he points behind me and starts walking towards the car. He reaches for my hand and I take a step back.

“Liam…” I let out a sigh. “I understand you’re drunk, but you need to stop.”

“Stop what?” He stares at me like he can’t understand why I’m annoyed with him.

“Everything good, here?” I hear from behind me and then I see Wes in my periphery taking a step towards Liam and in front of me. Instantly, my heart flutters in my chest.

“I thought you left,” Liam says.

“You didn’t answer my question.” He gives Liam a look. “You feeling okay?”

“Fine. Rae and I were just leaving.” He points towards the car. “You ready?”

“No.” I shake my head.

“Sounds like she’s not ready.” Wes crosses his arms in front of him. “I thought I advised you to flirt with my assistant on your own time.”

“We’re at a bar in Miami, it is—”

“Nope, you’re still on a work trip,” he interjects as he takes a step closer to Liam and I wonder if he’s about to expose us. “I am not going to tell you again.”

Liam looks at me and then back to Wes and then back to me, shooting me a glare. “Boyfriend, huh?”

“I don’t know what you’re implying, but I would tread lightly.” Wes steps completely in front of me, blocking me from Liam’s view. “Or we can have a talk with Human Resources when we get back about your insubordination.”

He shakes his head before he gets in the car and pulls away from the front of the club.

I barely have a chance to register that I’m moving before I’m in the backseat of Wes’ car and in his lap. “Are you okay?”

I nod as we pull away from the club. “Yes.”

“I wanted to get out the second he approached you but I was trying to let you handle it, but it seemed like he was not getting it.”

I shake my head. “He wasn’t. He thought I made up the fact that I have a boyfriend.”

“What a dick.”

I rest my head on his shoulder, trying my best to get closer to him. “I hate that you couldn’t tell him to back off because I’m yours.”

I feel him harden beneath me and he tightens his hold on me. “Believe me, me fucking too.” He guides my lips to his, sliding his tongue into my mouth and dragging it against mine. “You’re coming to my room.”
