“I know about the no fraternization policies—” I start.

“Do you?” Dana pushes her glasses to her head and purses her lips, not necessarily in judgment but in disappointment. “You know what this means.”

I snap. “We arenotfiring her.”

“Those are the rules,” Dana replies.

“Make new ones,” I growl, “or I’ll find a new head of HR.” I give her a pointed look and she actually pales slightly. I don’t want to fire her, but if it’s between her or Raegan there’s zero contest.

Pete sighs. “Who else knows about this?”

“Chris. Liam Patterson may have a hunch, I’m not sure, but we need to talk about him anyway for an unrelated reason.” And not just because he’s an asshole that wants my girl, but I don’t like how much he pressed her the entire trip. It makes me wonder how many of the girls he’s slept with did so willingly or just so that maybe he’d leave them alone.I do not like that.

“You know what will happen if this gets out?” Dana asks.

“It’s giving everyone carte blanche to engage in inappropriate behavior at their desks!” Pete says.

“No, that’s not what I’m saying at all,” I tell him.Although, I will definitely still be fucking Raegan on my desk, regardless of this outcome.“I’m saying that if someone comes to us in the same way that I am now and professes to be in love with someone, I expect us to do a little bit of due diligence before we fire anyone. I’m not talking about flings or sordid affairs. I’m talking about a genuine connection between two people that just so happens to both work here.” I sigh and the words tumble out before I have a chance to stop them. “I fell in love with someone who also happens to work for me.” The words feel foreign having not said them in years and while Raegan and I haven’t technically been together for very long, I know that I’ve been in love with her for longer than the week it’s been since we started this.

“In love?” Eliana Song, who hasn’t said anything since the moment we sat down, speaks up. She’s always quiet, but she’s also very kind so I’m not surprised that she’s not at all combative during this meeting like the other two. She tucks a strand of her black blunt bob behind her ear.

“Yeah.” I smile at her. “I love her.”

She blinks at me a few times before she leans forward. “Does she feel the same way?”

“Not the point,” Dana interjects.

“That’s absolutely the point,” Eliana responds with a glare before turning back to me with a small smile as if to say, well?

“I don’t know. I haven’t told her yet. It’s relatively new. I mean…I think I’ve been in love with her for a while, but our relationship is new.”

Dana sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. “What is the point of all of this?”

“Being honest? Because there may come a point where we won’t be able to hide that we’re together.”Maybe she could hide a ring but I don’t know how she’d get away with hiding my baby inside of her.

“So, you want us to rewrite the rules.”

“Yes,” I tell them. “I own the company and I still hold the majority share. Chris also has a vote and I’m sure you can guess the way he’ll vote. I called you guys in here as a courtesy, but make no mistake, I will pull rank if I need to.” I stand up, as it seems like they’re reluctantly getting on board with my request. “I’m not going to have her sitting in my lap during board meetings and I’m not suggesting we put it in the monthly newsletter, but I’d like to be free to hold her hand when we walk in the office together.” I point at the three of them. “Email me the updates when they’re done.”

Later that night, I barely register that someone has opened my garage door before Raegan appears in my kitchen. She drops her overnight bag, pulls her shoes off, and then launches herself into my arms, wrapping her arms and legs around me, and pressing her lips to mine.

“I missed you,” she says between kisses as I walk us to the couch and sit with her straddling my lap.

I don’t think anyone has ever been this excited to see me ever, and my heart feels the same level of excitement over having her back in my arms. “Hi, baby, I missed you too.”

We’ve spent the majority of the past six days together and even longer if you count the weekend after the holiday party, so this is the longest we’ve gone without seeing each other since we first slept together. She pulls back to rub my jaw before pulling my glasses off my face, having learned that I don’t typically like kissing her with them on.

“How was your day?” I ask her while I run my hands up her sides and begin stroking her back.

“Good. I went shopping for your Christmas present. You know how hard it is to shop for a man who has everything? I figured those days were behind me since my dadalsohas everything but alas, here we are.” She rolls her eyes.

I shake my head. “You absolutely did not need to get me anything.” I hold her tighter in my arms. “All I want is you.”

“Okay, Mariah Carey, well I got you something else besides me.” She rubs a thumb over my lips before kissing me again.

I pinch her side playfully and she giggles. “Hey, I didn’t quote the full title.”

“I am impressed you know the song.”
