PJ nods solemnly. "He did."

"Guys, look, thank you for coming around and checking in on me. I appreciate the gesture. But I am fine. Really."

"Then why haven't you been responding to Harrick and Branum's calls or texts?"

"My phone's dead," I lie, and because the universe must be enjoying toying with me, right at that moment, I get a text message. They both look at the cell phone lighting up on the arm of the sofa, then over at me. "It's a miracle?"

Eddie rolls his eyes as he approaches. "It makes sense that you're heartbroken. We get it. We were all there at dinner. Wefeltthe connection between you and Tal."

"You did? Both of you?"

The two of them bob their heads.

"Urgh." I collapse over the back of the sofa.

When I look up, two faces are peering down at me.

"What are these?" Eddie taps my foot.

"They're slippers," I reply indignantly. Or, as indignantly as I can seeing as I'm lying on my back with my feet in the air. Thank god I’m wearing underwear otherwise these two could be copping an unintended eyeful.

"I knew he was old, but slippers. Who wears…" PJ begins, and Eddie laughs, then stops when he notices me glaring at him.

I let out a sigh. "I appreciate everyone's concern. I really do. But I just need some time alone."

PJ shakes his head. "Not gonna happen."

"Excuse me?"

Eddie shoves an envelope at me.

"What is this?"

"Open it and find out."

"Fine." I open it, and… "Holy fuck." I scramble so that I'm sitting upright, my head a little dizzy from moving so fast. "Who paid for this?"

"We all chipped in."

"Eddie, PJ, this is too much. I can't accept this."

"Yes, you can," Eddie shoots back. "Those tickets are non-refundable, mister. You are getting on that plane, and you are going to Australia to get your man."

"Come on, man. Let's go for a swim," Leo calls out.

I shake my head. "Don't wanna."

"We'll let you wear your neon pink G-string," Rove singsongs, and normally, that'd work.

But we're not in normal times—we're in an end-of-the-world apocalypse.

I shake my head. "Still a pass."

"Oh, come on, Tal. You're acting like a baby."
