They all looked like Amarok.

Massively tall, covered in an outrageous number of tattoos, and insanely muscled.

Suddenly, the wolf beneath me seemed much, much safer than the ones in front of me.

Amarok shifted forms and smoothly tucked me against his side. As much as I didn’t want to cling to him for safety, I found myself pressing against him. His grip on me was secure, and it calmed me a little.

The hot pink of my hair was sandwiched between us, bright and vibrant.

One of the other guys tossed Amarok a pair of shorts, and he pulled them on with one hand, holding me with the other arm.

The woman at the front of the group spoke, and my gaze jerked to her. Her hair was bright red, her skin was somewhere between pale and tan, and she looked tiny next to the man whose arm was wrapped lazily around her hip. Her side rested against his with a confidence I immediately envied.

She was comfortable with him, in a way I didn’t think I’d ever been comfortable with anyone. Definitely not with any man.

She grinned broadly at me. “Welcome to the Woods Pack. I’m Ezra, and this is my mate, Ivaylo. We’re the alphas here.”

“Hi,” I managed.

I silently pleaded with Amarok to do the introducing and whatever else there was to do, for me.

He couldn’t hear, of course.

After a moment of silence, he spoke anyway. “This is Rory, my fated mate. She would feel safest in a den of her own, surrounded by those belonging to the other unmated females.”

Relief had me sagging slightly, and leaning further into Amarok’s side.

“Of course.” Ezra glanced at the other two women, and my gaze flitted over them quickly. One had neon-yellow hair and olive skin, and the other’s hair was a pastel green color, her skin dark.

All three of them strode toward me, and the tightness in my stomach eased slightly.

They were going to have my back, I hoped.

Ezra’s mate, Ivaylo, stayed beside the other men, and didn’t look at all annoyed that his woman had just walked away from him without an explanation. I wasn’t sure what to think about that, but it did seem like a good thing.

If I’d walked away from Allen like that, there would’ve been hell to pay.

“This way.” The green-haired girl tilted her head to the left, clearly telling me that was where we needed to go. When she started walking in that direction, Amarok’s grip on me loosened slightly.

I grabbed his arm and held on tight as I took the first few steps after them.

He didn’t say a word, walking at my side silently as I followed the women.

“We all know it’s intense to get here at first,” the yellow-haired woman offered. “The guys are kind of terrifying before you understand how their society works. Then, they’re just big, sexy teddy bears.”

I glanced over at Amarok, found his gaze lingering on me, and quickly looked back to the women in front of me.

The big, sexy teddy bear thing honestly fit what I had seen of him, for the most part.

“Being fated will make the transition easier, too,” the green-haired woman added. “I’m Riley, by the way.”

“I’m Jill,” the yellow-haired one said. “Is Rory short for something?”

“Aurora,” I admitted. “My mom was obsessed with fairytales, before the drugs took over.”

“I love that.” Riley flashed me a smile. “Who doesn’t want to be named after a princess?”

I couldn’t help the small curve of my lips. “It was cool, when I was five.”
