“Relax. I have already ordered your favourite whisky and chicken grill steak,” he smirks.

“Thanks,” I reply as I unfold the white napkin on the table and place it on my lap.

“Do you know why I called you today?” He asks the moment the waitress walks over and set our drinks down in front of us.

I arch my brow. “Nope. But I am sure you will fill me in.”

“Well, I have some good news for you, Son.”

I pick up my glass of whiskey and take a sip. “I am all ears.”

A grin crosses his face. Oh shit! That’s not a good sign. What’s up his sleeve now? “I have found you a wife.”

I nearly choke on my drink and almost slam the glass on the table. “Grandpa, we’ve talked about this before…” Groaning, I begin to speak, but he cuts me off.

“Son, she’s not like any of the women you have met.I can assure you about that.”

“I bet she is. But Grandpa, you need to understand that I’m not ready for marriage,” I counter back in an annoyed tone.

“You’re thirty, Ranveer. I want to see my grandkids before I die.” The look on his face turns serious.

“I am capable of finding my own wife.” I finish my drink in one gulp and signal the waitress to bring me another.

“Please be my guest, but make sure it’s not one of your women from the past.”

I roll my eyes. “What’s with this girl you want me to marry? How did she even agree to marry a Casanova like me?”

“She’s a kind and pure soul, Ranveer. And as far as your status is concerned, I assume she is overlooking it. She needs help to save her dad’s financial situation which I promised in return for marriage.”

“Monetary benefit,” I chuckle at his explanation. “Really, Grandpa? Eventually, it all lands up in money. Wake up, please. The only good women are in the fictional world. In the real world, women are nothing but vultures who are always on a hunt for richer men. And once they find one, they ruin him both financially and emotionally. In short and simpler terms, they are biologically and naturally cheaters who can’t be trusted.”

“Ranveer Seth, I didn’t raise you to disrespect women. You need to give her a chance to know that she is not what you think.”

“And what if I refuse?” I ask, meeting his eyes.

Grandpa looks at me silently before he speaks, “Then I’ll take back all my shares from the company and donate it.” His gaze is almost threatening as he asks, raising a brow, “Do you want me to do that?”

My expression change to anger. “Why would you do that?”

“Look, I said what I had to. Now the ball is in your court. Choose wisely, Son.”

A sick feeling washes over me as I stare at him. “You are joking, right?”

He smirks. “Nope.”

“Does she know about my…” Before I can complete it, Grandpa interrupts.

“That’s not my story to tell. She needs to hear that part of your life from you.”

I rub my palms over my face in frustration. “Let’s keep it under wraps for now.”

“We can do so for now, but I would suggest you discuss that before you both tie the knot.”

“Aren’t you being a bit presumptuous here? I still haven’t agreed to marry her,” I can’t help but retort as the waitress walks over with my drink, along with our food.

He laughs. “Indeed, you will.”

“Grandpa, think…”
