She looks at me as if I have lost it. “Well, we only cater to high-profile weddings with a minimum budget of fifty lakhs.”

Luckily, I was not sipping my drink. If not, I would have choked to death hearing the nasty price. “I am sure you can work something on a moderate budget?”

“I am afraid that’s the lowest we can go.”

“I don’t think….”

“I am back.” Ranveer flops back, taking his seat. “So, what did my fiancée choose?”

“Well, I was just informing your would-be that we don’t usually handle the economic events that she is probably looking for,” she informs him with a shrug while I gaze from one to the other. To my horror, I am met with his fierce glare.

I gulp. The air suddenly feels dry and hot, as if I am in a sauna.

“Please excuse her. The wedding preparations seem to be overwhelming her. She’s not in her senses lately. Let me lend a hand.” He turns his attention to Sofia.

Did he just say I’m not in my senses? How dare he say that? I’m perfectly fine. He’s the one who needs to seek help. I am trying to help him save his money rather than squander on a perishable wedding that already has an expiry date.

“Let’s start with what budget you are looking at,” she continues the conversation as if nothing happened.

“What was the cost of your best work?” He asks, tapping his fingers impatiently on the table.

“The most exclusive wedding which we worked for was about a crore and a half.”

My jaw hits the floor.Don’t tell me he’s goingforthat! But this guy is crazy. Yesterday, he got that diamond ring which is the cost of my boutique, and now he is going for an absurdly expensive wedding.

“How about we look at two crores?” he asks with an air of arrogance in his tone.

I need to put a stop to it before he seriously drives me insane. “We don’t need to spend that amount for a wedding,” I interrupt.

“Let’s freeze for two crores,” he says without wavering his gaze from Sofia, leaving me out of account.

Sofia nods her head as she taps on her iPad. “Very well. Now that’s sorted, is there any particular venue you have in mind?”

“The Taj Mahal Palace,” he replies without giving a second thought.

“And what’s the number of people we are considering?” Sofia asks, looking up from her iPad.

“Well, I can’t give you the exact number at the moment. I will need some time to discuss with my grandpa and Alisha’s parents before I can fill that blank. All I can say is, it’s going to be a huge gathering.”

Huge as in?I am still not over the shock when Sofia shoots her next question.

“Any particular theme you have in mind?”

Ranveer meets my gaze as if expecting me to answer that.

Well, when Samir and I were together, I imagined my dream wedding as a fairy-tale with flowers, candles, and light music, but that dream was crushed.

“A simple wedding,” I reply with a lack of enthusiasm in my voice.

“It needs to look like the most lavish wedding people have witnessed in a long time, with rich classy décor, and no compromise on the food and guests’ comforts,” Ranveer adds.

“Very well then. I guess that’s all the questions I have for now. I have noted down all your requirements. We’ll start working on it and email you the samples for your approval,” she says as she turns off her iPad.

The waiter serves our food. We then have our meal with Ranveer and Sofia having a light conversation while I sit in silence.

“I shall take your leave then,” she says as we finish our food.

She shakes both our hands before leaving.Soon, we too make our way to the exit when a female voice squeals from behind me.
