“Alisha?”

I turn around and my expression breaks into a smile. “Misha!” I sprint towards her, meeting her halfway.

“Where have you been?” Misha asks as she pulls me in a hug.

I revel in the embrace and then distance myself as I look at my friend from college days. She still looks the same, maybe even more stunning. Misha is a gym instructor now; I guess that explains her toned body. “I was in London and just returned a couple of months back.”

“That’s great. So, how is Siddh? Did you guys marry the way you planned to?”

Her words hit me like an arrow. I lower my head, no longer looking at Misha in the eye. My body language is screaming in distress. Ranveer clears his throat next to me. Oh my God! I almost forgot his presence. I turn to him and begin to introduce them with an awkward smile. “Misha, this is Ranveer Seth, my…” I try to search for appropriate words.

“Her fiancé,” Ranveer finishes for me, smiling at Misha. She blinks at me. I guess she got her answer to her earlier question.

“Ranveer, this is my friend from college, Misha Jain.”

She holds out her hand to him. “Nice to meet you.”

He puts a charming smile on his face. “My pleasure.” I roll my eyes at his smooth talk.

Turning back to me, Misha asks, “How did you both meet? Is it love or an arranged marriage? And when is the wedding? I need all the details.”

“Too many questions in one breath, that too standing here,” I say, eyeing around. “How about we catch up later over a coffee and talk?”

Ranveer reaches out and clasps my hand. He is so good at putting up a false appearance that I, too, almost believe him.

“Hey! I have my workshop tomorrow. Why don’t you come? Remember, how Siddh and you...” She begins to say but realising Ranveer’s presence, she curses under her breath as she clears her throat. “I mean it would be fun. Why don’t you come?”

“We will be there,” Ranveer replies before I can come up with an excuse, and my head snaps in his direction.

“What?”

To my chagrin, he doesn’t answer me. Instead, he signifies his agreement by nodding his head. Did he just say he will attend? The shock nearly puts me on the floor.

“Great. You know the address, Alisha,” Misha says and I nod my head as she continues, “It starts at ten in the morning, you both are welcome to bring your friends as well.”

After that, we bid bye, with a promise that we shall attend the workshop tomorrow.

“Siddh is the name of your ex?” Ranveer guesses with a bit of harshness, which I can’t figure out why, as we walk towards the valet.

“Yes.” My tone is guarded. I pause before asking, “Are you really going to attend her workshop tomorrow?”

“I don’t commit to things if I am not sure.”

I shrug. “You don’t know what you have signed up for.”

Ignoring my statement, he asks another question. “Do you still love him?”

My face turns to him. Is he inquisitive or merely bothered that I have a past? Something is wrong, I can sense it, recognising the thread of irritation on his face mingled with possessiveness.

‘No, you are just overthinking, Alisha,’ I keep chanting to myself. However, he is keenly observing me.

I am silent for a minute but then feel it’s best to put a guard. “At times, it’s hard to let go,” I then answer abruptly.

We are quiet as we get into his car.
