“What the hell?” he grumbles in a sour voice.

“I should be the one saying that,” I simmer.

“Are you kidding me? You are the one who intruded on our conversation,” he spits out bitterly. The guts of this guy.

“Well, from where I am standing, you had your fucking hands on my wife, you asshole.” The fire spewing from my eyes is enough to shrivel him right there.

His eyes pop out of his socket. “Wife?”

“Yes wife.” I confirm. “And no man dares to lay his hands, on her. So, for sure you have shot yourself in the foot. Now, I am giving you ten seconds, to apologise to my wife, or I will gladly beat the shit out of you.”

Releasing the scumbag, I wait for him to apologise. The image of him hurting her makes me see red, and I am struggling like fuck to keep my temper, as all I wanted was to break his nose.

“She is the one at fault here,” he croaks, straightening his shoulders as he tries to stand his ground. “She was supposed to have my girlfriend’s order ready but doesn’t have the outfits.”

Alisha steps forward and tries to speak up. “Listen here, Mister….”

“Alisha, stay out of it,” I try to cut her off, but she pays a deaf ear.

“I did call and inform your girlfriend about the delay. If she failed to pass the message to you, it’s not my fault,” she counters, her voice strong.

It’s such a relief to see that she has finally plucked up courage to give this bastard her peace of mind. Reaching out, I slip my hand around her waist, drawing her back against me before I kiss her forehead. She sighs, leaning into me as her head falls back against my shoulder.

“Are you okay, Sweetheart?” I whisper in her ear, to which, she gives me a silent nod.

“Now get the hell out of here before I kill you.” I grit my teeth as I move my eyes back to the moron.

“Screw you,” he says bitterly as he turns around and storms out of the door.

“You okay, Wifey?” I ask her again, clutching her even closer to myself.

I pull back from her, looking into her eyes. She nods as she rubs anxiously at her wrist. I gaze down and hold her wrist up. My hackle rises when I notice the red finger marks where that bastard held her. My nostrils flare and my temper shoots up. I let go of her hand and turn around to hunt that bastard down.

“Ranveer, listen,” she shouts out, hot on her heels. “Please stop.” She wraps her hands around my waist, hugging me from behind, burying her head against my back and holding on to me. “It’s nothing, I’m fine except for a little pain. Please don’t create a scene and make it ugly,” she urges, her voice a bit muffled against my back.

“I won’t be at peace till I don’t make him pay for hurting you.” My breathing is ragged and unsteady, and I shiver with the anger that’s shimmering in me.

She gently removes her hands from my waist and steps in front of me. Looking up at me, she mumbles, “Take me home.”

She doesn’t wait for me to reply as she steps away and moves towards her desk. Taking her belongings, she pulls me outside the door. I let her drag me and don’t fight her as I regard her in a daze. Reaching my car, she opens the driver’s door for me.

“Sit,” she instructs, pointing towards the seat.

I give in to her commanding voice and slip inside the car. The last thing I would wish is to upset her when she must be already shaken. She then walks around the car and sits on the passenger seat.

Instead of starting the car, I turn towards her. “Why the hell did you stop me from beating the shit out of that scumbag?” I feel the rage tearing at my lungs, plucking at my nerves. I so wanted to twist that bastard’s neck off.

She gazes at me lovingly as she gently smiles. “Because he was not worth it.”

Reaching out, I push the lock of hair falling on her face behind her ear as I utter, “We are going to the doctor, and you won’t argue with me on that.”

Alisha exclaims, “What? That won’t be required, Ranveer. It’s just a mild ache because of the tight grip, that’s all.”

“I won’t be satisfied till I don’t get you checked.”

“Okay,” she lets out a breath and concedes.

“Thanks,” I mutter as I take her hand and lightly trace my fingers over the redness on her wrist. My breathing turns hard. Rage pounds through my body and pierces me to the core. I want to track that bastard down and teach him a lesson. She cups my cheek with one hand, and her eyes lock on mine. And my anger lessens just like that.
