I slowly shook my head. Aithan was blocking the doorway. Tobias couldn’t escape, so I kissed his cheek and gave him a big hug. “Thank you for listening and for all the thoughtful advice.”

Tobias’s shoulders hunched. “Uh, sure, Zel. Anytime.”

Aithan’s face was a world of confusion as he looked from Tobias to me, but I didn’t wait for his head to clear. I pressed against him, catching his hands before he could put them on me, and slipped past him into the hallway. “Put the groceries away, lover, and don’t give Tobias undeserved shit. Okay?”

He glanced at his best friend. “Not even a little?”

“Not even a little.”

I tilted my head for a kiss. He obliged. Proving his massive strength, he easily brought my hands behind my back, fingers still entwined with his own. His kiss was hungry, a promise to do things to my body later that would make me moan.

The door from the garage opened, and Drew returned. He paused behind me and set down the bags he’d carried inside, then he pressed against me, sandwiching me between him and Aithan. “You cannot hide away with Tobias and not expect consequences.” Drew lifted my shirt, then pressed something ice-cold against my back.

I shrieked and escaped Aithan’s loosened grip, spinning away from their betrayal as all three men laughed.

Drew held a package of frozen beef patties and wore a devilish grin. “I can think of some interesting places to put my meat.” He lunged toward me.

With another shriek, I fled to the safety of the sunroom.

Tobias followed me, laughing. “You guys don’t fight fair.” He chivalrously stepped between me and Drew and a package of frozen beef.

“Hey, Tobias?” Aithan rested his elbow on Drew’s shoulder.

Tobias glanced at me, then shoved his hands in his pockets and slowly returned to the kitchen. “Yeah, man?”

Drew left the meat on the kitchen counter and watched me, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips, as he stepped forward and slapped Tobias on the back. “You don’t need to skulk in like a fox looking to steal the hen. She’s in charge of the cocks around here.”

Aithan reached out and put Tobias in a playful headlock. “You get your parts cleared with a doc?”

I crossed my arms. “He doesn’t have to. We’re not fuck buddies.”

“That’s what we were discussing when you came barging in.” Tobias twisted free of Aithan’s hold with remarkable agility.

“A platonic friendship?” Drew sounded mystified, and his expression said the idea was horrifying.

I raised my chin and held his gaze, hoping he bought the act. “Yes. Is that so hard to believe?”

Aithan shrugged. “Nie.Tobias is a good listener.” He shoved his best friend toward the garage. “He’s also helpful. Right?”

Tobias turned his wrist and looked at his non-existent watch. “Oh, jeez. Would you look at the time?”

Aithan shoved him again. “Move, leniwy pierdzie!”

“Fuck you. I’m not lazy.”

They kept bickering as they exited the kitchen.

“I guess you’ve got all the cock you can handle.” Drew took my hands and pulled me into his arms. “Are you okay with this change?” He’d seen right through my brave face. Of course.

“I’m still wrapping my head around it, to be honest.” I snuggled against him. “Tobias said some things that were hard for me to hear, but I probably needed to. We just might be better off as friends than lovers. At least it’s better for him.”

He brushed my hair back from my face, then kissed my temple. “Trust your instincts.”

“They did a decent job with you and Aith.”

Aithan and Tobias were still sniping at each other as they returned from the garage, their hands full of paper grocery bags.

Drew kissed my nose, then headed back to the kitchen. “You sticking around, Papa Bear?”
