She was home, waiting for Beau with Grace and Mikhail’s family and Gideon was on his way. We were tasked with bringing Beau back safely.
“Okay. You are free to take him home. Good luck.” The nurse muttered to me, and Wyatt gripped the handles of the wheelchair.
“Come on wheels. Let's take you home.” I teased and Beau shot me a disgusted look. We got him situated in the car and began the eight-hour drive back from the city to Devils Tooth Ridge.
“This isn’t the way home,” Beau said and I glanced at Wyatt before looking at Beau.
“We had to make a detour. We are meeting Gideon and Zane first. They have something for us. For you.” I added and Beau cocked a brow at me.
Wyatt pulled onto the dirt road, switching on the lights as it got darker. We arrived at a discreet home, a little farm that held pigs and chickens.
The huge shed at the back had lights illuminating the entrance.
We got out, helping Beau back into his wheelchair, and then headed toward the shed. Gideon stepped out from the door and smiled at Beau.
“It’s good to see you. Come in. I have something that we have been keeping on ice for you. I thought you would want to be a witness.” He said cryptically and we followed him inside.
The shed was full of pigs on one side, the stench made me gag but it was the back of the shed that got my attention where two men were strung up naked from the ceiling.
Zane was there, sitting in a chair along with two other men who were playing cards.
I looked at the two men and realized who they were at the same time Beau did.
“Austin and Phillip,” Beau said as he looked at Gideon.
“Yes. We caught them trying to escape. I must say, Austin was a surprise and I have my men going back through everything to find out how we missed it. I was going to kill them quickly and dispose of them before they became a liability, but I thought you might want to be present for it.” He said and I looked at my brother, the way his jaw twitched, and I knew he was questioning himself.
I never would have called myself a man who was willing to watch another die or kill someone, but after seeing Anya naked and covered in blood and Beau nearly die, then hearing how Austin had tricked us all for years, I was willing to make an exception.
Austin’s eyes swung to me and I took a step back. This was a man who was like a father to me. A man who had been there for every life event, been friends with all my family, and taken us in.
A man that I now call a monster.
“You deserve to rot in hell for everything you did.” I spat before Gideon looked at Beau.
“What do you want? We can do this fast or slow. It is entirely up to you.” He asked and Beau looked at me and Wyatt.
“How long until Anya expects us back?” He asked and I shrugged.
“I said we wouldn’t be back for another few hours yet.” Beau nodded, looked at Austin and Phillip then at Gideon.
“Slow. I want to hear their screams.”
We pulled into the driveway, weary but a little more relaxed. Beau was asleep, his pain meds kicking in about thirty minutes ago.
“I guess this makes us one big happy family now. Nothing like torturing and murdering two men to bond together.” I said to Wyatt who stared at me for a moment before he laughed.
“Trust you to find a way to make this humorous. Come on. I don’t know about you, but I am desperately wanting to see our woman. I need to soothe the jagged edges of my soul and remember that I have a chance at redemption in her arms.” He said and I hummed in agreement.
We helped Beau out of the car as Anya came rushing out the door. She looked at Beau who groggily smiled at her and burst into tears.
“I’m okay, Sunshine. I’m okay.” He said and Anya let out a shuddering breath.
“Come on. Let’s get you inside to rest.” She said with a bossy tone before she went inside.
Gideon’s car pulled into the driveway as we went inside, and Grace smiled at us on our way through.
“You rest up. I’ll get dinner sorted and then we can all eat together as a family. I’ll just be in the down checking on Mikhail and the family.” She said as she left the house, heading to the newly renovated second home.
