“No, I really don’t. I was asleep before you—”
“Fuck,” he grunts, slamming his palm against the door. “Fuck.”
I fight the urge to grin at his frustration.
Oh, Theo.
You really picked the wrong adversary.
“If there’s nothing else, get out.”
His eyes narrow to dangerous slits and for a second, I wonder if I’ve pushed him too far.
“Yeah,” he breathes, “whatever.” He grabs the handle and turns to leave but I call after him before he can slam my door shut.
“Oh, and Theo,” I say.
He pauses but refuses to look at me.
“I want my phone back.”
He blows out of there without so much as another word, and I inhale a sharp breath.
I should feel happy. Smug even.
But I can’t deny the stab of disappointment that he walked away so easily.

“Yessss,” I hiss, quietly celebrating when I finally find the code that unlocks Raine’s phone. It wasn’t exactly rocket science, but it’s taken me longer than I’d like.
Although, that’s possibly due to the anger that’s blinded me since our party was plunged into darkness. The fucking cables were cut.
Who the fuck would do that?
I shake my head. I know exactly who did it.
The girl who tried to convince me that she was fast asleep in bed the whole time. The girl I left high and dry on the floor of her shower yesterday morning.
There isn’t anyone else brave enough or stupid enough to pull such a move.
My free fist curls as I tap on her messages app. I am so fucking ready to discover how she’s been doing all this.
Sneaking across campus to tag our cars, and then again to wipe out our party, all while apparently being in her dorm building.
It doesn’t make any sense. Unless she has someone helping her.
But the second the app opens, I deflate. There are only two message threads. One with… Teddy. My teeth grind as I stare at this little nickname. And the other…
I open the thread and read a couple of messages.
Her social worker?
Interesting.
Although, the whole thread throws up more questions than it answers.
