But instead, she surprises me.

“I’ll see you next time.”

With a stiff nod, I haul my bag over my shoulder and get the hell out of there.

By the time I get back to the dorm, my mood is infinitely worse.

I hate therapy.

I hate that Miss Linley thinks that talking about my life will change anything.

It won’t.

My mum was a drug-addict whore who cared more about her next fix than protecting her own daughter from the revolving door of strange men who kept money in her purse and heroine in her veins. No amount of talking will ever change that.

I made my peace with it a long time ago. Some of us get dealt a shitty hand and that’s just how it is. The only person I can count on—the only person I trust—is myself.

And come my birthday, I’m leaving this place and never looking back.

I just have to survive the likes of Theo Ashworth and his dickhead friends first.

I blow through the building, making a beeline for my room. But when I reach the door, I notice it ajar.

“What— You!” I sneer at Theo as he slams my drawer shut.

“Busted.” He smirks, the idiot actually smirks. And I see red.

Marching straight over to him, I yank his arm down and spit, “What the fuck are you doing?”

“Nice to see you too, sunshine.”

“Theo!”

“Raine.” His brow arches with amusement.

God, he’s infuriating.

“How did you even get in here?”

“I told you before, nowhere is inaccessible to the Heirs.”

“You love that, don’t you?”

“What?”

“That stupid pretentious title.”

“Jealous?”

“Uh, no.”

“You keep saying that, and yet, you’ve been watching me.”

“You think I’ve been watch… wow.” Bitter laughter spills from my lips. “You’re so fucking full of yourself.”

“You could be full of me. If you fess up.”
