“You said you were having breakfast with Mills. So I thought I’d come and spend some time with my two favourite girls.”

“So you didn’t just turn up to ensure I don’t corrupt your little sister then?” Raine asks as she retakes her seat.

“Get up,” I bark at a little kid at the next table when I realise there isn’t a spare chair.

The kid jumps up like he just shit his pants and I steal his seat, spinning it backward so I can straddle it.

“Really?” Raine deadpans.

“What?” My shoulders lift in a half-shrug. “And no. I know I’ve said some shit about you two spending time together but I’m over it.”

“You’re over it?” Raine asks as if it’s just as easy as that.

Reaching out, I snatch her hand that’s resting on the table and twist our fingers together. The second I do, her eyes dart around the room.

I know everyone is still looking, I can feel it. But I don’t care.I meant what I said in Raine’s shower the other morning and again last night.

She’s mine.

And every motherfucker in this town had better get used to it.

“I meant it, Raine. Every single word.”Reaching out with my other hand, I steal a rasher of bacon from her plate and bite the end off.“Now are you going to eat up? Something tells me you’re going to need your strength later.”

“Ew, gross,” Millie whines.“If you two are going to get all lovey-dovey, I’m gonna find somewhere else to sit.”

“Nope. You are staying right there. I need to talk to you about something.” Millie studies me suspiciously as I go on, “Tonight, I’m taking Raine out on a date.”

“Excuse me?” Raine coughs having just swallowed some eggs. “A date? Oh no, I don’t go on—”

“You do now. We’re going out. End of argument.”

“Oh God, it’s going to be some pretentious, stuck-up fancy restaurant where I’m going to stand out like a sore thumb.”

“You really don’t trust me, do you?”

“Have you given me a reason to?” she counters.

“Touché,” Millie chuckles, doing very little to help my cause here.

“You know I can get your pocket money cut off, right?” I snap.

“As if you would. You’re all talk no action, big brother.”

“Oh, I’m not sure Raine would agree. She loves my mouth and my ac—” Raine’s hand claps across my face, cutting my words off as Millie makes a gagging sound.

“I take back what I said the other night, you’re not cute when you’re happy. You’re disgusting.”

I poke my tongue out at her the second Raine’s hand slips from my face.

“What do you need me to do?” she concedes, too interested to find out what I’m up to.

“Tomorrow, I want you to take Raine out shopping for dresses for the weekend.”

“For Friday night?” she asks hesitantly.

“Yep,” I agree, dragging Raine’s chair closer to me so I can wrap my hand around her thigh as she gawps at me.

“What’s Friday night?” She glances between the two of us.
