I can’t keep the smile off my face as I watch her go. Just before she gets to the corner, she looks back, our eyes connecting for the briefest of moments before she disappears.

Irush into the bathroom and lock the door, pacing back and forth as I try to calm my racing heart.
Vaughn is here.
At the party.

Pausing at the sink, I curl my fingers over the edge of the basin, inhaling ragged breaths as the room closes in around me.

“Yo, hurry the fuck up,” someone bellows, hammering on the door. “I need to piss.”

The banging continues, only making my heart rate ratchet even more.
Desperately trying to compose myself, I inhale another deep breath before yanking the door open and coming face to face with a boy I vaguely recognise.
His glazed eyes study me and then widen a fraction. “Oh shit, aren’t you—”
I barge past him and make my way down the hall. I don’t know where I’m going or what I’m doing but all I know is, I can’t go back in there.
I should have suspected Vaughn would do something like this. It isn’t his style to stay in the shadows. But I hoped…

I shake my head, frustration rippling through me.
I want to run. To walk out of the Chapel and never look back. But I can’t do it, even now, even when Vaughn has shown his hand, I can’t abandon Theo and Millie.
