I don’t want to go back in, but what choice do I have?
If I don’t, Theo will only come looking for me.
Even worse, Vaughn might too.
So I hold my head high, take a deep breath, walk into the Chapel telling myself that I can do this.

“There she is, my only sunshine.” Theo grins as I approach him and our friends. Vaughn is nowhere to be seen but I don’t doubt for a second that he’s close by.
Watching.
Waiting.
The hair on the back of my neck prickles with awareness but as I discreetly scan the room, I don’t see him.
“What’s wrong?” Theo asks, his pupils blown. “You seem tense.”
“I’m fine. What did you take?”
“Just a little X. Feel like I’m fucking flying.” He leans in, ghosting his lips over mine. “You want some, baby?”
“No. One of us needs to stay clear-headed. Millie is upstairs.”
Guilt sparks in his eyes. “Shit, I—”
“Relax,” Elliot says in his usual commanding tone, and I’m hardly surprised he seems sober. He’s careful about when he lets his guard down. “We’ve got her.”
Theo nods, his hands roaming over my body. “Fuck, I’m horny,” he whispers, pressing sloppy kisses along my jaw.
“Theo, not here.” I press a hand against his chest. “Later.”
“Now.” He groans. “Let me take you down to the basement and—”
“Later,” I say more firmly.
“Jesus, sunshine. You’re killing my mood.” He pouts. “You need to lighten up. It’s a party, we’re celebrating.”
“I think I’m going to go and check on Millie,” I say, trying to extract myself from his hold.
“Seriously? You’d rather hang out with my sister than me? What the fuck is your problem?”
“Theo,” Elliot warns.
“You’re drunk and high and I’m going to walk away before we both do or say something we’ll regret.”
“I might be drunk and high but at least I’m not being a fucking miserable bitch.”
Everything inside me goes still, pain radiating through my chest.
“Enjoy your party.” I blink back the tears as I walk away from him.
“Trouble in paradise?” Keeley smirks as I pass her and her friends.
But I ignore her, too on edge to get pulled into some mean girl drama.
Part of me is surprised she had the balls to show but then, she’s probably waiting in the wings for when things between me and Theo go wrong.
