Suddenly, I had a family of sorts.

I belonged.

People appeared to care.

The guys were the first people who didn’t stab me in the back the second it was turned.

It was incredible.

I was happier than I’d ever been in my life.

Until I met you.

Maya.

I still remember the day you turned up at the group home. You looked like a bedraggled cat. I swear, to this day, you were the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Your red hair was sticking up in all directions. You even had leaves sticking out of it.

There was mud smeared on your face, your hands were bloody.

I was fucking obsessed the second my eyes landed on you.

There was no way that anyone as small or as pretty as you should have looked like you’d been fighting with a bear and won.

But you did, and you stole my heart.

From that day on, I was so fucking gone for you.

Everything you did amazed me. Every smile you sent my way made my stomach flip over. And every time you touched me, my dick got so fucking hard it was painful.

You had no idea though.

All you wanted to do was leave.

I got it. I still get it.

That place was worse than hell.

But with you there, it was bearable.

No, it was better.

We had so much ahead of us. But you couldn’t see past the next three years until we aged out of the system and could embark on our lives.

It was all I wanted.

You and me against the world.

We’d have been so fucking unstoppable.

Bonnie and fucking Clyde shit right there.

The pen stills as the trembling becomes too much to keep going.

I hang my head, barely able to sit still as the memories of the first woman who stole my heart rip through me.

I thought I’d dealt with it all, and came out the other side.
