“Okay,” he agrees.

“Once we know for sure, well, then I guess the rest is up to you.”

Julian nods, absorbing his words.

“Could you… could you give us a moment?” Julian asks before looking at the three of us.

“You got it,” Reid says, clapping him on the shoulder in support.

“We’ll be right over there,” I say, hating the idea of walking away from him right now.

“I’m okay, Dove. It was just the shock.”

Leaning down, I press a kiss on the corner of his lips and whisper, “I love you.”

“Love you too,” he responds before squeezing my hand one last time and letting me go.

Mav immediately pulls me into his side.

“He’s okay,” he assures me.

“I know.”

“Aside from you, this could be the best thing that’s ever happened to him.”

I spin back and watch the two of them interact.

“Yeah,” I muse. “It could be.”

Julian doesn’t talk about his past all that much, about the memories he has of his mother or what he’s been through. He does talk about his lack of family though and how important our newly built one is to him, and I can’t help but hope that he might just have added to that.

“Do you think that she should be in school?” Reid asks when we rejoin the others.

“Her profile didn’t list a school or any details, but if you want me to, I’ll find everything there is to know about her, her father and everyone connected to her,” Ellis offers.

“Yes,” Reid agrees without a second thought.

“Wait,” I say, forcing myself to look away from them. “That should be Julian’s decision. He might want to do things the old-fashioned way.”

There’s a beat of silence before Reid grunts. “Fuck’s sake, why do you always have to be right?”

I smirk at him.

“Aw, look how my man is learning,” I tease, tapping his chest patronizingly.

I gasp when he leans over and grasps my throat.

Heat explodes in my pussy as my skin burns with everyone’s attention.

“I have no problem with teaching you a lesson out in public, Pet,” he warns darkly, the dangerous rasp of his voice not at all helping with my current situation.

His grip tightens, cutting off my air, but he releases me a beat before I beg for him to do exactly what he just suggested.

“Um… little sister and small child in the house,” Kristie points out while our eye contact continues. “So not necessary.”

It takes a couple of seconds for Kristie’s words to register in Reid’s head, but the second they do, I swear he actually fucking blushes.

It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
