“We’re just playing,” I say, shooting my sister a wink.

“Oh, yeah, course you are.” She rolls her eyes before turning her attention back to Daisy, who is thankfully distracted by watching something on Ezra’s cell.

Pushing my plate back, I settle into Mav’s side as we continue to watch JD and Roe.

“You know you can’t bang her now, right?” I muse as their conversation looks like it comes to an end and Ezra shuffles toward the edge of the booth like he’s ready to pounce on the poor girl.

“Why the hell not?” he snaps. “She’s still hot, even if she shares DNA with J.”

“She’s his sister. Don’t you guys have any kind of bro code? I’m pretty sure banging each other’s sisters is up there with one of the top rules.”

Ezra’s mouth opens and closes as he fights to find an answer. In the end, he settles with, “We don’t even know if she’s his sister.”

“Uh-huh,” I mumble as JD pushes from his chair and walks over with Roe following behind him.

“Guys, this is Roe,” he says, although he doesn’t go into any more details about who she is—or claims to be. He introduces Kristie, Griff, and glosses over Aubrey, much to her irritation, before moving on to Daisy. “Of course you already know Ezra, right?” JD says when he gets to the Harris brothers.

“Uh, yeah. We’ve met.”

Roe looks over at him, and I swear something sparks between them.

If JD sees it then he chooses to ignore it.

“You’d better get going,” he says, turning to Roe. “I’ll be in touch, okay.”

She nods sadly before suddenly throwing herself at him and wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

Hesitantly, he returns her hug before she pulls away and says, “Thanks for like… not shouting at me or telling me that I’m a liar.”

JD smiles at her. “We all deserve to be heard and trusted every now and then,” he says before she smiles up at him and turns around.

“Wait up,” Ezra says before she’s made it too far. “I’ll walk you to your car.”

JD doesn’t react until Ezra is standing right next to him, then his hand darts out and he grips Ezra’s upper arm in a vice grip.

“Touch my sister and I’ll cut your balls off, Harris,” he warns darkly before releasing him and sending him on his way.

“Well, I’m glad to see that the drama in Harrow Creek is far from over,” Aubrey says, forcing Devin and Ellis from the booth so she can get up. “This has been fun and all, last night especially,” she says, lifting her fingers to her lips and blowing as if it’s a smoking gun. “But I need to go and see a man about a dog?”

“Again,” JD mocks. “You like those dogs, huh?”

“Shut up, Julian,” she hisses before turning to me. “I’ll see you soon, yeah. You need anything, I’m on the other end of the phone.” After I agree, she looks up at Reid. “I guess that goes for you too, Harris. Although, I draw the line at any more fathers.”

“Thank you, Aubs. For everything.”

“I would say you’re welcome, but I’ve got memories from this experience I’ll never be able to forget.” She winks before spinning on her biker books and marching from the diner as if she owns the place.

“I like her,” Kristie muses as JD slides back into the booth and reaches for his barely-touched breakfast.

“Just don’t tell her to her face, it’ll only go to her head,” he mutters before embarking on eating everything on his plate now that everything is a little more settled in his world.

“Feeling better?” I ask when he eventually comes up for air.

He thinks for a moment. “I didn’t get anyone pregnant. I’m fucking fantastic.”

“Yet,” Devin mutters, unaware of the situation.

“We’re good as we are, thank you,” Reid states, killing that line of conversation. “We ready to head out? We’ve got a gang to go and take over.”
