My hands slide to her ass, holding tight against me.

One moment time seems to slow to a snail’s pace, and then the second we collide, I swear someone hits fast forward.

“Put my little dove down, Harris. We need to move out,” JD bellows.

“Shit,” I gasp, pulling my lips from Alana’s.

“I’m just impressed he didn’t come up and try to join,” she teases, her eyes dark with desire.

A laugh punches from my throat, but I sober quickly.

“We should go.”

A rush of air spills from between her lips before she releases her legs from around my waist.

“Yeah,” she says sadly.

“Seriously, stop fucking her. If I’m not allowed then neither are you,” JD barks, making both of us laugh, although there is limited humor in it.

“How long are you going to be able to keep this going?” I ask curiously as she straightens her clothes.

“As long as I think is necessary,” she says, her expression darkening as she pulls on her armor, ready for battle.

“Right. So it’ll be a while yet then,” I deadpan, ripping my eyes from her and heading toward the door.

She’s not the only one who needs to steel herself for what’s about to happen.

Catching up to me, her tiny hand brushes against mine before she twists our fingers together. We walk down the stairs showing a united front before joining the other two members of our team.

“Finished?” JD deadpans, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.

“Let’s go,” I bark, unwilling to discuss details of what happened upstairs.

And anyway, I’m more than happy to let him think I’m getting more than him. He certainly spent long enough gloating when he was fucking her first.

Tugging Alana into my side, I wrap my arm around her shoulders and lead her toward the garage.

“Shotgun,” JD shouts as we approach my truck.

I’d prefer to drive my Charger, it’s faster and I like her more, but it’s too familiar around town. If word gets back to Victor that I’m here then we’re all fucked.

“No fucking way,” I bark, pulling the door open and allowing Alana to hop up into the seat.

“At least she’s hot,” JD teases before climbing in the back beside Mav.

“We ready for this?” Mav asks once I’m seated and start the engine.

“Ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s hope Kai and the guys have managed to pull this off, huh?” I mutter, putting the truck into reverse and backing out of the drive.

It’s dark out and there’s light rain in the air, setting the scene perfectly. As we drive away from the house, I glance back in the rearview mirror, taking in the hauntingly dark building.

Usually, it’s lit up, making sure that everyone in the valley below knows that I’m here, but right now, all the lights are out, the curtains and blinds are closed.

To the outside world, the king of this lair is dead.

But the reality is very, very different.

The drive through the backstreets of Harrow Creek is quiet. No one with half a brain cell would risk coming down these streets unless they’d been ordered by a senior member of the Hawks. And thankfully, they’re all too busy right now to be focusing on dealings back here. They’re all probably wondering why their royalty have fucked off all of a sudden.
