From the small bits Colton has shared about their dad, this isn’t an uncommon thing. Their father has been physical toward them for a long time. That was, until Nox was big enough to fight back. I quietly sneak out the back door and make my way through the broken fence. The familiar sound of fists hitting a bag soon fills the air.I knew he’d be back here.??
Approaching cautiously, I walk around the tree so I don’t catch him off guard.??

“I don’t need you checking up on me,” he says, all out of breath.?

He ignores me and continues assaulting the bag. Nox is in such a fury that he doesn’t seem to realize nor care that he’s ripped his knuckles wide open. Blood covers both of his hands. With every punch he throws, a deep groan escapes his lungs.??
After what feels like forever, he finally relents, crashing down against the tree with pure exhaustion. I’m on my knees by his side immediately.???
