I turned around and locked eyes with Jack. He was standing in the doorway, his arms crossed and his jaw set. His red eyes glowered at me, making it clear he was more than just a little pissed off. He didn’t need to say a word—his expression said enough. I didn’t need to know how angry he was, either.

It was palpable.

Cold anger radiated off of him like the icy winds of a polar vortex.

I couldn’t believe my luck.

I should’ve known he’d show up at the worst possible moment. Yet, he tried to maintain some composure.

“You’re late.”

Ignoring Ransom’s bemused expression and Jack’s unwavering stare, I scrambled off the demon’s lap with what little remaining dignity I still had.

It wasn’t much.

I’d lost my panties and had a huge wet spot in the crotch of my leotard, which now felt like it was giving me an impressive camel toe.

My face flushed red with embarrassment, but this sort of thing was well within my wheelhouse. My parents were celebrities. I’d grown up on a reality TV show. I liked to party and I liked to fuck. I’d been caught by the paparazzi in so many compromising situations that I knew how to play this sort of thing to my advantage.

Smoothing my ponytail, I playfully twirled the end of it around my finger and brought my shoulders back, making my tits stand out. Then I gave Jack one of my most authentic pouts.

“I overslept. Sorry.”

His scathing gaze slid down at me, glaring with disdain.

“You’re not sorry. But youwillbe.”

The iciness of his tone sent a chill through my bones, and I immediately stopped twirling my hair. My stomach turned as I wondered exactly how much trouble I was in.

I glanced back one last time at Ransom, whose smug expression remained unchanged. If anyone could get me out of this mess, it was a demon with an all-access pass to Hell and an obsession with my pussy.

But no...

All that fucker did was lift his teacup to toast me!

My jaw fell open again as he took a hefty gulp of tea. Before I could respond, Jack had already whisked me out of the room and shut the door.

I was fuming.

Absolutely fuming.

I was such a dumbass—I should’ve held onto that Ring of Temptation a bit longer. I could’ve used it against both of these guys.

Jack’s voice sliced through the tense silence like a scalpel.

“How dare you make me hunt you down like an animal.”

I shot him a defiant look.

“You’re a vampire. I thought you’d be into that sort of thing.”

I swear he growled before he stormed down the hall in long, quick strides. His cloak swirled behind his wake, leaving me to practically run to catch up with him. I hated how small and insignificant he made me feel.

“Look, I’m sorry I overslept, but dawn is way too early to train,” I reasoned as I followed Jack down the hallway of the White Queen’s crystal castle. “I haven’t even had time to grab a coffee.”

“Perhaps you would’ve been on time if you hadn’t stayed up all night with Chess,” he replied coldly. “From dawn to dusk, you belong to me.”
