“It would be nice to have you home.”

Does Mark hear the sadness in Mom’s tone?

She continues, “Please check on that. But more pressing is today’s schedule.”

I don’t want to argue with Mom. I’ll let Mark be the bad guy. “We’ll make it work.”

“Make what work?” Mom asks.

“We asked Bianca to give input on our app since women are our primary demographic.”

“I am a woman.” Mom juts her chin out.

“Yes, and we’ll ask for input from you when we have the app perfected a little more.”

Mom beams with pride then quickly turns serious as she points toward the elevator. “That should be fine as long as she has time to bake. And don’t let your father see you acting childish like that again.”

We all voice agreement.

“And don’t forget the homemade—”

Bianca cuts her off, “Whipped cream. I know how he likes it.”

I like whipped cream. My dick is hard thinking about Bianca’s tongue licking it off of me. I angle myself so mom can’t see my reaction. “We better let Bianca get to work, she’s got a tight schedule.”

“So much to do.” Bianca heads toward Mom’s penthouse.

Mark asks, “How long will you be gone, Mom?”

Her hand hovers over the elevator buttons. “Why does that matter?”

I can’t afford to let Mark’s irritation derail us. I answer. “We want to make sure the kitchen’s cleaned up.”

“I’m going to tea with friends after the spa, I’ll be gone until at least eight.”

“Great.” We all head to the door with Bianca.

Mom’s voice pierces the air, “Why are you going with her?”

“Maybe she can teach us a thing or two.”

“What are you doing?”

“Making sure we have everything for gingerbread.”

“You don’t have your phone or a recipe card.”

“I have the recipe in my head.”

“Seriously?” Sean asks. “How many times a year do you make gingerbread?”

“Usually just once.”
