Using one hand to keep her lips parted, he slid two fingers back inside her and explored different ways of touching her while he licked and sucked and nibbled her clit. She’d wanted this to last but asking for his mouth had been a mistake. She closed her hands into fists around her bed linens and arched her back which is when he found it. Some alchemy of fingers and tongue, hands and mouth that had her careening toward an orgasm.

Linc must’ve felt it somehow because he thrust a little deeper and sucked a touch harder and—

“Oh! Oh, Daddy, yes. Yes. Please. Oh…”

The climax overtook her and Nova felt as though she was going supernova, but an explosion of feeling instead of light. Everything was so intense and she’d lost the words to tell him how amazing she felt. She suspected he could tell, given how closely he seemed to pay attention—enough to ease her through and prolong the aftershocks until she was entirely spent.

If he’d simply left her there, she wouldn’t have complained. Her bones were like jelly and she was sleepy again. But no. Linc kissed the insides of her thighs and then slid her up the bed and laid down beside her. Nova snuggled into him and enjoyed his warmth and the hard-bodied but comforting feel of him.

Chapter 25

Linc had just left Nova’s office after dropping her off there following their morning of discipline and reward. After she’d come—and fuck was she ever beautiful when she was coming apart—Nova had fallen asleep and he’d had to wake her at eleven. He didn’t think she’d want to get started much later, and he’d been right.

It was so damn satisfying to settle her down a bit and get her dressed before he walked her over to the cafe and got her a second breakfast of a fruit and yogurt parfait and yet another hot chocolate. He was so happy, he’d started humming “Frosty the Snowman” as he headed back to his room when his phone buzzed in his pocket.

“What up, O?” he asked his friend.

“How’s operation Wife Me Up going, Uncle Linc?” Cricket chirped. “Are you gonna bring me a new Little friend? Please say yes.”

“Would you not encourage him, please?” Owen muttered. “But seriously, how’s it going?”

These two were almost as bad as Derek. Was it that people who were in happy relationships just needed everyone else around them to be in happy relationships too? Or failing that, any relationship at all?

“It’s going…” He thought about everything he’d done with Nova in the past few days. “It’s going pretty good. Sort of.”

“What does that mean?” Owen asked.

“I’ve been having a great time with Nova…”

Cricket squealed. “Does Nova like chickens?”

“Not so fast, Cricket,” he admonished. “I have no idea if Nova likes chickens. But I also have no idea if Nova likes me.”

“Why wouldn’t she?”

The indignation in Cricket’s voice was the sweetest thing. As if because she liked him, everyone else had to. Like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Well, I’ve known Nova for a long time.”

“No you haven’t,” Cricket corrected. “You knew her a long time ago. Those aren’t the same.”

Okay, his buddy’s babygirl had a point there.

“You’re right,” he conceded. “But most of Nova’s memories of me are from when I was a teenage dirtbag. It’s not like it was a one-off first impression either. She knew me all through school. That’s like thirteen years of being a fuckup to overcome.”

“But you’re not a dirtbag anymore,” Cricket said, and he could picture her sitting on the couch cuddled up with Owen, probably holding Bandit her pig stuffie too because if she was in the cabin, Bandit was almost always by her side.

“Thanks, chirp. That’s what I’m trying to prove. But I’ve only got a few days left to show her I could be a great Daddy.”

“Gimme her number. I’ll talk to her.”

“Cricket,” Owen said in warning tone that made Linc snicker.

“I appreciate that, chirp, but I gotta do this on my own. And I think I know a good way to start.”

Nova had becomepretty fond of Linc showing up at her door toward the end of the day and today was no exception. It was almost like that doorjamb was made for him, he looked so comfortable leaning against it.

“You, little girl, are coming with me.”

“And you’re awfully sure of yourself,” she rejoined.
