“Ready John?” I asked.

He gave me a nod. “Of course, Your Grace.”

“Em?”

“Absolutely,” he called back.

I rolled my neck and hoped like hell this would actually work. “Let’s do this then.”

My blue magic took to the water, followed by Emric’s red and John’s green. Though the strands of magic could not combine, they could all still be sent into the water.

“A little more,” Emric called more to me than to John.

I agreed and sent more until the lake was covered in weaving lines of blue and red throughout. I turned to Zaccai. “All right, whenever you’re ready.”

In the full moon eve, there sat she,the lion sent.

I didn’t have time to comment about how of all the things he could have possibly said, it was the damn sea shanty again. A surge of power rippled across the entire lake, demanding all our attention.

Just like that, it was back to orange.

The sounds of the shifter’s roars and noises were chilling. I wasn’t sure I liked the sound of a mountain lion’s roar at all, yet at least it was of celebration, not threat.

I hadn’t even fully fallen on my arse this time either.

Emric sloshed over to Whit at the shore and threw an arm around him. “Whit brothers it is!”

Zaccai had already made his way to me where I still stood in the lake and before I could panic or say a word, he licked the side of my face. Which was... well it felt a little like a wet piece of sandpaper had just been taken to the side of my face, but at least he was happy.

Thank you, Prince.

I gave him a nod and then had to take a step back as Amory had thrown herself into my arms.

“Amory?” I asked gently. “Are you all right?”

She pulled back, tears streaming down her lovely face. “I just never thought I’d see the day it got its color back, you know?” She brushed at an eye. “I am so grateful. This means so much to all of us, especially the felines.”

I knew I shouldn’t be making her any promises but seeing this normally well-put together woman crying in her lake which meant so much to her had me pulling her back in for another hug and saying, “You’ve worked way too damn hard these last few years for us not to fix this.”

I felt her nod as she hugged me back.

As I walked back to the shore, I noted that the sky was filling with more and more winged creatures. Only the generals and the feline shifters were in the actual sanctuary out of respect, but the others could still fly above it.

Whit and the winged lion who hadn’t left yet stomped. With their right paws. The mountain lion and others joined in.

“Hell yes, I love this!” Emric exclaimed as he joined in.

Louder and louder the stomps came. There were only thirty or so of us, but it was still eerie how the beat was carried exactly through the shifters.

I sent Esta a grin and found she was staring at me already. “Well, Your Grace. Do your thing.”

She gave possibly the loudest roar I had ever heard from her and then moved faster than possible as she scooped up Amory in one hand and me in the other.

She joined in the circling above The Taaka, and as we flew the big circle with all the other shifters, I noted Emric was riding Whit too. And John had somehow been offered a ride from Zaccai.

The smile Emric wore as we made another lap looked like it might just break his face.

We had done it. And though I had feared it would have taken all of my magic stores, it hadn’t. We had the formula down, and we were one step closer to fixing Dra Skor.
